Cross-country Skiing At The 2006 Winter Olympics – Women's Team Sprint
The Women's team sprint cross-country skiing competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy was held on 14 February, at Pragelato. This was the first time the team sprint was contested in the Winter Olympics. Each race featured teams of two, with each skier completing 3 laps of a 1145 metre course. This event had been held once previously at the World Championships, but then as a free technique event, which Hilde G. Pedersen and Marit Bjørgen won for Norway. Viola Bauer
Viola Bauer (born 13 December 1976 in Annaberg-Buchholz, Saxony, East Germany) is a retired German cross-country skier who competed from 1995 to 2007. She has won a complete set of medals at the Winter Olympics with a gold (2002) and a silver (2006) in the 4 × 5 km relay, and a bronze in the 5 km + 5 km combined pursuit (2002). Bauer also has a complete set of 4 × 5 km relay medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a gold in 2003, a silver in 2007, and a bronze in 1999. Her best individual finish at the World Championships was sixth in the Individual sprint event in 2005. Bauer had eleven individual wins at various levels from 1998 to 2007. Tetyana Antypenko (née Zavalij, born September 24, 1981) is a Ukrainian cross country skier who has competed since 2000. She participated at 2006, 2010, 2014 Winter Olympics. Career Tetiana Zavaliy was born in a small town Uhroidy, Sumy Oblast, where she took up skiing in the third form of elementary schools, since it was the only one sport section in the town. At the FIS Cross-Country World Cup she debuted on February 14, 2004. Later she qualified for 2006 Winter Olympics. Her best personal result was 27th in 10 km classical race.
