Cox's Bazar Airport
Cox's Bazar International Airport is an under-construction international airport in the resort town of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The airport services both local residents of Cox's Bazar as well as tourists to the region. In November 2020, Biman Bangladesh Airlines started flight between Sylhet to Cox's Bazar, which was in a first, a direct flight between two cities without any connecting flight from Dhaka. Expansion and development Since 2012 plans to upgrade and expand the airport to allow international arrivals have been underway. Once completed, it would be the fourth international airport in Bangladesh. The two phases of upgrading, will make the airport able to provide better facilities for parking, landing and take-off for wide-body aircraft such as B777 or A330. NOVOAIR ( bn, নভোএয়ার) is an airline based in Dhaka, Bangladesh operating mostly domestic flights. It operates 25 flights each day from Dhaka to its seven destinations. History NOVOAIR was established in October 2007 as an aviation service provider as the business diversification of parent company Tusuka Group with directors Arshad Jamal, Faiz Khan, Mofizur Rahman, and Fayzur Rahman Badal. 2016 True Aviation An-26 Crash
On 9 March 2016, True Aviation Flight 21, an Antonov An-26 transport aircraft operated by True Aviation crashed 500 metres from Cox's Bazar Airport in Bangladesh, from where it had taken off shortly before. The twin-engine plane was attempting to return to the airport after experiencing an engine failure. Three of the four crew members on board were killed in the accident.
