Council For The Republic
The Council for the Republic ( ca, Consell per la República), also known as Council for the Catalan Republic, is a private organisation headed by deposed Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, which seeks to organise and promote the Catalan independence movement following the failure of the 2017 Catalan declaration of independence. It also promotes the defence of civil and political rights. The council consists of the president and seven members. The Council was presented on 30 October 2018 in the Catalan Government Palace, Barcelona, by Carles Puigdemont, Toni Comín, Quim Torra and Pere Aragonès. The event was attended by representatives and deputies, as well as regional ministers and senior government officials, mayors and representatives of civic organisations. Catalan Independence
The Catalan independence movement ( ca, independentisme català; Spanish: ''independentismo catalán'') is a social and political movement (with roots in Catalan nationalism) which seeks the independence of Catalonia from Spain. The beginnings of separatism in Catalonia can be traced back to regionalist and nationalist movements of the mid–19th century, influenced by romantic ideas widespread in Europe at the time. The first organised Catalan independence party was Estat Català (Catalan State), founded in 1922 by Francesc Macià. Antoni Comín
Antoni Comín, born in Barcelona on March 1971, March 7 1971, is a Catalans, Catalan intellectual and politician from Spain. He is currently the executive vice-president of the Council for the Republic and has been an European Parliament, MEP since July 2019. He is the fourth child of the politician and intellectual Alfonso Carlos Comín Ros, Alfonso Carlos Comín i Ros and Maria Lluïsa Oliveres i Sanvicens, whose other children are Maria, Pere and Betona. Catalan Declaration Of Independence
The Catalan declaration of independence ( ca, Declaració d'independència de Catalunya; es, Declaración de Independencia de Cataluña) was a resolution that was passed by the Parliament of Catalonia on 27 October 2017, which declared the independence of Catalonia from Spain and the founding of an independent Catalan Republic. The Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya is a historic palace in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It houses the offices of the Presidency of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is one of the few buildings of medieval origin in Europe that still functions as a seat of government and houses the institution that originally built it. Joaquim Torra i Pla (; born 28 December 1962), known as Quim Torra, is a Catalan lawyer and journalist from Spain. He served as President of the Government of Catalonia from 17 May 2018 to 28 September 2020, when the Supreme Court of Spain confirmed a court ruling by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia condemning him for of disobeying the Central Electoral Board during the April 2019 general election, leading to his disqualification from office. Pere Aragonès i Garcia (; born 16 November 1982) is a Catalan lawyer and politician from Spain, serving as the President of the Government of Catalonia since 22 May 2021.
