Cornelscourt
Cornelscourt () is a small suburban area within the traditional County Dublin, now in the jurisdiction of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. Situated between Cabinteely and Foxrock, it is a primarily residential area, but is perhaps best known for being the site of Ireland's first big-box store, a branch of Dunnes Stores, and the country's first drive-through bank. Geography Cornelscourt has an area of 44.95 hectares. It stretches west to Kerrymount Avenue, south to the Old Bray Road, and east across the N11 to include all of Monaloe (directly behind Clonkeen College). Cornelscourt is in the civil parish of Kill, within the barony of Rathdown. It is also in the electoral division of Stillorgan. Cornelscourt consists of houses and shops on either side of a section of the bypassed Old Bray Road, between the junction with the N11 to the east. Cabinteely
Cabinteely () is a suburb of Dublin's southside. It is in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, County Dublin, Ireland. Geography Cabinteely lies around the crossroads of Johnstown Road / Brennanstown Road and the Old Bray Road, and on either side of the ''Stillorgan Dual Carriageway'' ( N11), which is parallel to the Old Bray Road. The R827 road runs from Blackrock and terminates in Cabinteely. Much of Cabinteely is parkland (Cabinteely Park and Kilbogget Park) or open countryside (around Laughanstown and Brennanstown). Cabinteely borders Ballybrack, Carrickmines, Cherrywood, Cornelscourt, Deansgrange, Foxrock, Johnstown, Killiney and Loughlinstown. Dunnes Stores is an Irish multinational retail chain that primarily sells food, clothes and household wares. In addition to its main customer base in Ireland, the chain also has operations in Spain, and formerly in England and Scotland. The format of most of the chain's stores on the island of Ireland involves a grocery supermarket operating alongside a clothing/textiles store, although some stores contain only textiles, and some contain only a supermarket. The grocery side of the business does not operate outside of Ireland, save for a limited grocery range in the Spanish stores. N11 Road (Ireland)
The N11 road is a national primary road in Ireland, running for along the east side of Ireland from Dublin to Wexford. It passes close to Bray, Greystones, Wicklow, Arklow, Gorey, and Enniscorthy. Beyond Wexford, the route continues to Rosslare as the N25. The road forms part of European route E01. As of July 2019 the N11/M11 is of dual carriageway or motorway standard from Dublin as far as Oilgate in County Wexford. The road is a busy commuter route, being the only dual carriageway passing through the south eastern suburbs of Dublin, as well as close to the many commuter towns along the east coast as far south as Gorey. Clonkeen College
Clonkeen College is a Christian Brothers secondary school for boys in south Dublin, which opened in 1970. Clonkeen College has approximately 550 students and 35 teaching staff. Edward Melly is the principal and Michael Brennan is the Deputy Principal. The school has strong links with charities and the developing world. Clonkeen underwent significant development between the years 2015 – 2018. History The Ordnance Survey Ireland map 1837–1842 shows ''Clonkeen School Ho se', located in the present day Cornelscourt Village. Although the same building appears on the OSI 1888–1913 map, it is not named as a school any more. The original junior school was St. Joseph's Private Preparatory School, built in September 1965 close to where the present Clonkeen College stands. Foxrock
Foxrock () is an affluent suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It is within the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, in the postal district of Dublin 18 and in the Roman Catholic parish of Foxrock. History The suburb of Foxrock was developed by William and John Bentley and Edward and Anthony Fox, who, in 1859, leased the lands of the Foxrock Estate from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners and Richard Whately, the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin, with the aim of creating an affluent garden suburb. The development was facilitated by the existence of the Harcourt Street railway line, built in 1854, that put Dublin city within commuting distance.
