Cooperative School
Co-operative schools are characterised by the Cooperative#Coop principles and values, co-operative values and principles which underpin the practice of all co-operative organisations. In England and Wales, around 850 schools currently use co-operative values to support the curriculum design, pedagogy and structures for accountability and democracy. Two main forms exist in the state education system: #co-operative trust, co-operative trust or foundation schools and #Co-operative academies, co-operative academies. Education And Adoption Act 2016
The Education and Adoption Act 2016 (c. 6) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom giving the government new powers to intervene more rapidly in schools rated by Ofsted as "inadequate" or "coasting" and speed up the process of converting failing comprehensive schools into academies. The bill was presented to the House of Commons on 3 June 2015 by Nicky Morgan the Secretary of State for Education. The measures in the Act are also designed to speed up the adoption process by the Secretary of State requiring local authorities to make arrangements for their adoption functions (recruitment, assessment and approval) to be carried out by another adoption agency. The Act makes amendments to the Education Act 2011, Academies Act 2010, Education and Inspections Act 2006. Cooperative Education
Cooperative education (or co-operative education) is a structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience. A cooperative education experience, commonly known as a "co-op", provides academic credit for structured job experience, and is taking on new importance in helping young people to make the school-to-work transition. It falls under the umbrella of work-integrated learning (alongside internships, service learning and clinical placements) but is distinct, as it alternates a school term with a work term in a structured manner, involves a partnership between the academic institution and the employer, and generally is both paid and intended to advance the education of the student. Local education authorities (LEAs) were local councils in England that are responsible for education within their jurisdiction. The term was used to identify which council (district or county) is locally responsible for education in a system with several layers of local government. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield.
