Congressional Districts Of New Jersey
There currently are 12 United States congressional districts in New Jersey based on results from the 2010 Census. There were once as many as 15. The was lost after the 1980 Census, the was lost after the 1990 Census, and the was lost after the 2010 Census. During the 114th Congress, Democrats held six seats, and Republicans held six seats, in New Jersey's delegation to the United States House of Representatives. The 115th Congress saw Democrats holding seven seats and Republicans holding five, with Democrat Josh Gottheimer defeating seven-term Republican incumbent Scott Garrett in New Jersey's 5th congressional district. During the 2018 federal midterm elections, Democratic candidates Tom Malinowski, Mikie Sherrill, Jeff Van Drew, and Andy Kim won an additional four seats for their party. Chris Smith (New Jersey Politician)
Christopher Henry Smith (born March 4, 1953) is an American politician serving his 21st term as the U.S. representative for . Though it has taken various forms, his district has always been situated in central New Jersey. Currently, the district contains parts of Ocean and Monmouth counties. Smith is the dean of New Jersey's congressional delegation and the longest-serving member of Congress in New Jersey's history. He has focused much of his career on promoting human rights abroad, including authoring the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 and several follow-on laws. Dennis Township is a township in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The township's population as of the 2020 United States census was 6,285, a drop of 182 from the 2010 Census enumeration of 6,467, in turn a decline of 25 (−0.4%) from the 6,492 counted in the 2000 Census. Donald W. Norcross (born December 13, 1958) is an American politician and labor leader who is the U.S. representative for in South Jersey. A member of the Democratic Party, Norcross was first elected to this congressional seat in 2014, following the resignation of Rob Andrews. His district covers much of the New Jersey side of the Philadelphia metro area, including Camden, Cherry Hill, Lindenwold, and Glassboro. Before entering electoral politics, Norcross was involved in the leadership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 351 and was president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO Central Labor Council.
