Columba Association
In astronomy, the Columba association is a nearby Myr old stellar association. The association is named after the constellation Columba which contains many of the stars first recognized in the group. Special interest Stars in young associations are a popular target for professional astronomers. The stars are often surrounded by circumstellar disks, discs of dust and other planet forming matter around a young star, and young planets that still glow in the infrared spectrum, which makes it easier to directly image, using the light reflected off of the planets to obtain an image of the planets. The most famous star in the Columba association is which has four directly imaged planets. HD 32309 is a single star in the southern constellation of Lepus. It has a blue-white hue and is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.91. The distance to this object is 197 light years based on parallax. It is drifting further away from the Sun with a radial velocity of +24 km/s. This is a member of the Columba association of co-moving stars. This is a B-type main-sequence star with a stellar classification of B9V. It is around 124 million years old and is spinning rapidly with a projected rotational velocity of about 300 km/s. Mass estimates range from 2.56 to 3.24 times the mass of the Sun and it has about 3.1 times the Sun's radius. A variable star is a star whose brightness as seen from Earth (its apparent magnitude) changes with time. F-type Main-sequence Star
An F-type main-sequence star (F V) is a main-sequence, hydrogen-fusing star of spectral type F and luminosity class V. These stars have from 1.0 to 1.4 times the mass of the Sun and surface temperatures between 6,000 and 7,600 K.Tables VII and VIII. This temperature range gives the F-type stars a whitish hue when observed by the atmosphere. Because a main-sequence star is referred to as a dwarf star, this class of star may also be termed a yellow-white dwarf (not to be confused with white dwarfs, remnant stars that are a possible final stage of stellar evolution).
