Collège Du Saint-Esprit
The Collège du Saint Esprit is a private catholic secondary school in Mauritius. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive secondary education institutions in the country. The school consists of a boys-only department in Quatre Bornes where students are prepared for the School Certificate, the Higher School Certificate and other courses History The secondary school was founded in January 1938 by Fathers of the Congregation of The Holy Spirit. In 1920, The 'Séminaire Père Laval' was inaugurated and in 1926 'le Collège Père Laval' was founded with priests as teachers. However, due to a lack of priests, 'le Collège Père Laval' closed its doors and it was only in 1938 that the college re-opened its doors as le Collège du Saint Esprit. Quatre Bornes
Quatre Bornes () also known as ''La Ville des Fleurs'' (The City of Flowers), is a town in Mauritius, located in the Plaines Wilhems District, the western part also lies in the Rivière Noire District. The town is administered by the Municipal Council of Quatre Bornes. Situated between the towns of Beau-Bassin Rose-Hill and Vacoas-Phoenix, Quatre Bornes is linked by roads to the north, east, south and west of Mauritius. Maurice Piat
Maurice Piat CSSp GCSK (born 19 July 1941) is a Mauritian Roman Catholic prelate who has served as Bishop of Port Louis, Mauritius, since 1993; he is also a professed member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. Piat was ordained a priest in 1970 and made a bishop in 1991. Pope Francis made him a cardinal on 19 November 2016. Life Maurice Piat was born in 1941 in Moka, Mauritius. He attended the Collège du Saint-Esprit, a middle and high school in Quatre Bornes. Upon graduating, he entered the novitiate of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, where he made his solemn profession on 8 September 1962. While training at the Holy Ghost College, Kimmage Manor he obtained a bachelor's degree from University College Dublin. Education in Mauritius is managed by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources, which controls the development and administration of state schools funded by government, but also has an advisory and supervisory role in respect of private schools. The Tertiary education is maintained by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology. Yogida Sawmynaden (born 1974) is a Mauritian politician. Early life and education Yogida Sawmynaden was born in a Tamil Hindu family in Mauritius. After attending primary school Beau Séjours in Belle Rose he attended secondary school Collège du St Esprit in Quatre Bornes. The Supreme Court of Mauritius is the highest court of Mauritius and is the final court of appeal in the Mauritian judicial system. It was established in its current form in 1850, replacing the ''Cour d'Appel'' established in 1808 during the French administration and has a permanent seat in Port Louis. There is a right of appeal from the Supreme Court of Mauritius directly to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London. Victor Glover (judge)
Sir Victor Joseph Patrick Glover (5 November 1932 – 2 February 2020) was a Mauritian lawyer, judge and Chief Justice who played an active role in legal and judicial matters on the island of Mauritius. Early life, education and family Glover was born in Mauritius in 1932, the son of Mary Catherine Reddy-Glover and Harold Joseph George Glover, the latter being a Supreme Court judge who became Electoral Commissioner for two decades. Harold Glover was also Labour Party candidate at the 1936 General Elections. He studied law (Jurisprudence) at Jesus College, Oxford University after being awarded a scholarship (laureate) at the end of his secondary education at Collège du Saint-Esprit in Mauritius.
