Charlie And Company
''Charlie & Co.'' (also known as ''Charlie & Company'') is an American sitcom that originally aired on CBS from September 18, 1985 to May 16, 1986. Created by Allan Katz, the series stars Flip Wilson and Gladys Knight. ''Charlie & Co.'' is regarded as CBS's answer to ''The Cosby Show'', which was a ratings success for NBC at the time. Unlike ''The Cosby Show'', which ran for eight seasons, ''Charlie & Co.'' lasted only one. Synopsis The series follows a middle class African American family who lived on the South Side of Chicago. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. The South Side is an area of Chicago, Illinois, U.S. It lies south of the city's Loop area in the downtown. Geographically, it is the largest of the three sides of the city that radiate from downtown, with the other two being the north and west sides. William Earle Richmond (December 19, 1921 – June 4, 2016) was an American film and television comedy writer and producer, as well as a musician, actor and composer. He co-wrote the screenplays to numerous popular films that starred Jerry Lewis. These films included '' The Nutty Professor'', '' The Errand Boy'' and ''The Ladies Man''. He also made cameo appearances in some of Lewis' films as well, such as a piano player in '' The Patsy''. Terence McGovern
Terence McGovern (born May 11, 1942) is an American actor, television broadcaster, radio personality and acting instructor. He is best known as the original voice of Disney character Launchpad McQuack from ''DuckTales'' and spin-off ''Darkwing Duck''. He was also elected into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2008. Career McGovern was schooled at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh with a double major in journalism and English, and later studied acting with Stella Adler and Milton Katselas. McGovern worked at KDKA radio and KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh from 1965 to 1969, leaving for KSFO in San Francisco during the summer of 1969. Kip King (born Jerome Charles Kattan; August 11, 1937 – July 15, 2010) was an American film, television and voice actor. He was the father of American television sketch comedian Chris Kattan. Life and career King was born Jerome Charles Kattan in Chicago, Illinois, the son of an Iraqi-Jewish father and a Polish-Jewish mother. His father, who was from Baghdad, was a letter carrier for T.E.
