Character (Dark Tranquillity Album)
''Character'' is the seventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. The album was first released on 24 January 2005 through Century Media Records. The corresponding single, "Lost to Apathy", was previously featured on the '' Lost to Apathy'' EP, their first EP released in nearly ten years. The album title appears in the song "Am I 1?". This album is heavier than the band's previous album, with more aggressive and faster songs. Like the band's previous album, there are no clean vocals. The enhanced CD and digipak editions of the album include the video clip for the single "Lost to Apathy". A music video was also made for "The New Build". The album was also released as an LP with different cover art. Dark Tranquillity
Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Swedish death metal, Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates - regarded as the Gothenburg fathers in the film entitled ''Out of Nothing: A DT Documentary'' released by Century Media, which was filmed in their home town in April 2009. Damage Done
''Damage Done'' is the sixth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Here, the band returns to a more classic style while holding the changes made in their albums ''Haven'' and ''Projector'', especially in the keyboards, but this is the first record since ''The Mind's I'' that does not feature clean vocals. Martin Henriksson started doing some "lead guitar riffs" on the record, so the band showed influences from '' The Gallery'' in the duality of lead guitars. Mikael Stanne said that the lyrics on this album are about the frailty of life. The song "Cathode Ray Sunshine" is featured in the video game's soundtrack, ''Brütal Legend''. Several versions of the album feature a bonus track entitled "I, Deception" as well as the "Monochromatic Stains" video clip but it is known that the limited edition digipak contains them. In 2019, he founded his own band called Mitochondrial Sun, which has released three full-length studio albums to date. He is also a member of Time and the Hunter, a project founded in collaboration with Italian musician Enrico Longhin. He was a guitarist in the metal band Laethora from 2005–2010. In Dark Tranquillity, he was one of only two members (the other being drummer Anders Jivarp) to maintain his role, unlike the other members who have or had switched. Fredrik Nordström
Björn Tom Fredrik Nordström (born 5 January 1967) is a Swedish record producer and musician, and the guitarist of the heavy metal band Dream Evil. He is one of the leading melodic death metal and power metal producers in Sweden and has worked with some of said genres' top acts, including At the Gates, Arch Enemy, Nightrage, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork, Opeth, and Powerwolf. Fascinated by technology from a young age, Nordström opened a small recording studio in Gothenburg, mainly to record his own music. The studio evolved into Studio Fredman, one of the leading Swedish recording studios where he works with his employee Henrik Udd. In 1999, Nordström formed the heavy metal band Dream Evil to perform his own music, and as of 2024, Dream Evil has released six albums, one live DVD/CD set, and two EPs. Martin Henriksson
Hans Martin Knut Henriksson (born 30 October 1974) is a former Swedish musician best known for his work with melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity and was one of the original members, and the main songwriter for the band until he left them in 2016. Biography When Dark Tranquillity formed in 1989 Henriksson was the bassist up until 1999. He switched to guitar when guitarist Fredrik Johansson quit, but recorded bass again once on 2013's ''Construct (Dark Tranquillity album), Construct'' when the band had no bassist at the time. Mikael Stanne
Bengt Mikael Stanne (born 20 May 1974) is a Swedish musician, best known as the vocalist, primary lyricist and a former guitarist for the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. Since the departure of original drummer Anders Jivarp in 2021, Stanne is the only remaining original member of the band. Stanne is also the vocalist for bands Grand Cadaver, The Halo Effect (band), the Halo Effect and Cemetery Skyline, which formed in 2020, 2021 and 2023, respectively. He was also an ex-vocalist for HammerFall and In Flames. Optical disc packaging is the packaging that accompanies CDs, DVDs, and other formats of optical discs. Most packaging is rigid or semi-rigid and designed to protect the media from scratches and other types of exposure damage. Jewel case A jewel case is a compact disc case that has been used since the compact disc was first released in 1982. Melodic Death Metal
Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Pioneered by the English heavy metal band Carcass with their 1993 album '' Heartwork'', melodic death metal developed further in Sweden (developed by bands like At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, and In Flames) in the mid-1990s.
