Chairperson Of The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority
The chairperson of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is the chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the presiding officer of the Metro Manila Council. The post is also known as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) when the post is held in an acting capacity. Eligibility The Chairperson of the MMDA is appointed by the President of the Philippines. The appointment of the chairperson is subject to the same disqualifications and prohibitions of a member of the Cabinet but not subject for a confirmation from the Commission on Appointments. Functions The Chairperson of the MMDA is also the presiding officer of the Metro Manila Council. Benjamin Santos Abalos Sr. (born September 21, 1934) is a Filipino politician who currently serves as the mayor of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila since 2022, a position he also held from 1986 to 1987 and from 1988 to 1998. Thomas "Tim" Muñoz Orbos is a Filipino businessman, government administrator and politician who was General Manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure of the Department of Transportation under the Duterte administration. Emerson "Murph" S. Carlos is a Filipino lawyer and was the Assistant General Manager for Operations of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) from January 4, 2011, to October 1, 2015. Carlos succeeded Tolentino as the chairperson of the MMDA after the latter resigned from his post on October 7, 2016, to run for Senate in the 2016 elections.
