Cannonball (Little Mix Song)
"Cannonball" is a song written and performed by Irish folk singer Damien Rice. It was released on February 1 2002, as the second single from his debut album '' O.'' It was later re-released in 2003 (reaching number 32 on the UK Singles Chart), 2004 (reaching number 19) and 2011 (reaching number 9). In 2011, the song was chosen to be covered as the winner's single for the British version of ''The X Factor'' in its eighth series. It was then released by ''X Factor'' champions Little Mix (formerly known as Rhythmix) on 11 December 2011. The single topped both the British and Irish Singles Charts. Little Mix became the first band to win the show and their cover has since become the single's most successful version. In 2015, Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia covered the song for her studio album ''Male''. Damien Rice
Damien George Rice (born 7 December 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He began his career as a member of the 1990s rock group Juniper, who were signed to Polygram Records in 1997. The band enjoyed moderate success in Ireland with two released singles, "The World is Dead" and "Weatherman". After leaving the band in 1998, Rice worked as a farmer in Tuscany and busked throughout Europe before returning to Ireland in 2001 and beginning a solo career. The rest of Juniper went on to perform under the name Bell X1. In 2002, Rice released his debut album, '' O''. Syco Music is a defunct division of Syco Entertainment founded by British entrepreneur and record executive Simon Cowell.
