Candido Amantini
Servant of God Candido Amantini (January 31, 1914 – September 22, 1992), was an Italian Roman Catholic Passionist priest, Rev Fr Candido of the Immaculate, C.P., a Master Exorcist, spiritual director and confessor. For 36 years as Fr Amantini, he was Rome's chief exorcist. Stationed at the Church of the Holy Staircase, he often saw 60 to 80 people per day. He also taught Sacred Scripture and Moral Theology. He wrote a book entitled ''Il Mistero di Maria'', about the Virgin Mary. Candido Portinari (December 29, 1903 – February 6, 1962) was a Brazilian painter. He is considered one of the most important Brazilian painters as well as a prominent and influential practitioner of the neo-realism style in painting. Antonio Candido de Mello e Souza (July 24, 1918 – May 12, 2017) was a Brazilian writer, professor, sociologist, and literary critic. Jonathan Joseph “Candy” Candido (December 25, 1913 – May 19, 1999) was an American radio performer and voice actor. He was best remembered for his famous line "I'm feeling mighty low". Early and personal life Born on Christmas Day in 1913 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Candido, who later used the legal name John B. Candido, was a bassist and vocalist in Ted Fio Rito's big band, and they can be seen in a Soundie, "Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me". In 1933, he married Anita Bivona. Career Radio Candido's distinctive, four-octave speaking voice became familiar to radio listeners and moviegoers. Speaking his lines in his normal tenor, he would suddenly adopt a high, squeaky soprano and just as suddenly plunge into a gruff bass. Giacomo Candido (10 July 1871, in Guagnano – 30 December 1941, in Galatina) was an Italian mathematician and historian of mathematics. Education and career In 1897 Candido received his ''Laurea'' (teaching degree) from the University of Pisa and started to teach mathematics: first, at the Liceo of Galatina, then at the Liceo of Campobasso and from 1927 at the Liceo of Brindisi. John Candito (born June 11, 1982) is an American semi-retired professional wrestler, and is the younger brother of late professional wrestler Chris Candido. ''Candido'' was an Italian language satirical magazine published in Milan, Italy, between 1945 and 1961. History and profile ''Candido'' was started in 1945 as a successor of another satirical magazine ''Bertoldo''. It was cofounded by Giovannino Guareschi, Giaci Mondaini and Giovanni Mosca on the request of the Italian publisher Angelo Rizzoli. The magazine was published on a weekly basis, and its headquarters was in Milan. Giovannino Guareschi also served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine and resigned from the post in 1957. However, he continued to contribute to the weekly. In the period 1952–1953 ''Candido'' sold 180,000–200,000 copies. Later its circulation reached 225,000 copies. The magazine had a monarchist and moderately conservative stance. It frequently published cartoons featuring the major political figures of the period, including Christian democrat Alcide De Gasperi and communist Palmiro Togliatti.
