Camp Amal
Camp Amal was an experimental camp of the Habonim youth movement. Founded in 1948 on a rented site in Vermont, the camp was intended to give campers a thorough education in Hebrew, as opposed to simply using Yiddish or English, which were prominently in use at many Jewish camps at the time. After an inauspicious beginning, the camp attracted wide praise in the Jewish educational community for its ability to teach campers Hebrew. First moving the camp to a site in Connecticut in 1950, Habonim, due to financial troubles, was forced to move the camp again several times, in 1951 to the Cream Ridge Farm, in 1952 to Camp Moshava, and in 1953 to share the campsite of Camp Galil in Pennsylvania. The sharing of one campground by two different camps turned out to be untenable, so Habonim discontinued Amal after 1953. Habonim Dror
Habonim Dror ( he, הַבּוֹנִים דְּרוֹר, "the builders–freedom") is the evolution of two Jewish Labour Zionist youth movements that merged in 1982. Habonim ( he, הַבּוֹנִים, "the builders") was founded in 1929 in the United Kingdom and over a period of years, spread to all English-speaking countries. Each country developed its own independent version of the original movement whilst sharing the core ideology of being a Jewish Socialist-Zionist cultural youth movement. Dror ( he, דְּרוֹר, "freedom") was founded in Poland in 1915 out of a wing of the ''Tze'irei Tziyon'' (Zion Youth) study circle. The majority of ''Tze'irei Tziyon'' had merged with a group called ''Hashomer'' in 1913 to form ''Hashomer Hatzair'', and those who remained outside of the new group formed Dror. Cream Ridge Farm
Cream is a dairy product composed of the higher-fat layer skimmed from the top of milk before homogenization. In un-homogenized milk, the fat, which is less dense, eventually rises to the top. In the industrial production of cream, this process is accelerated by using centrifuges called " separators". In many countries, it is sold in several grades depending on the total butterfat content. It can be dried to a powder for shipment to distant markets, and contains high levels of saturated fat. Cream skimmed from milk may be called "sweet cream" to distinguish it from cream skimmed from whey, a by-product of cheese-making. Whey cream has a lower fat content and tastes more salty, tangy and "cheesy". In many countries partially fermented cream is also sold: sour cream, crème fraîche, and so on. Camp Galil
Habonim Dror Camp Galil is a Habonim Dror North American summer camp for Jewish students in Ottsville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. It runs for seven weeks during the summer and hosts several seminars during the year. History Camp Galil was founded on its current Bucks County site in 1946 as part of Habonim, a Labor Zionist youth movement. Its name refers to the famously scenic area of northern Israel surrounding the Sea of Galilee. Prior to and during the 1947–1949 Palestine war, Galil used its resources to help the war effort on the Israeli side by holding weapons in its barn. As the new Jewish state emerged, Galil trained and educated many of its members to visit Israel and eventually make Aliyah (literally to "go up”), or move to the Land of Israel.
