Calgary Stampede And Exhibition
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, fair, exhibition, and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event, which bills itself as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", attracts over one million visitors per year and features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, Midway (fair), midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuckwagon racing, and First Nations in Canada, First Nations exhibitions. Guy Weadick
George Guy Weadick (February 23, 1885 – December 13, 1953) was an American cowboy, performer and promoter. Today, he is best known as the founder of the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, Canada. He was married to famed cowgirl, Florence LaDue. Weadick was the first to be inducted in the Builder category in the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. The Dominion Exhibition was an exhibition held annually in Canada from 1879 to 1913. Every year the federal government awarded the role of host of the exhibition to one of the country's larger fairs. The first exhibition was held in Ottawa in 1879, and the final exhibition was held in Brandon, Manitoba in 1913. The outbreak of the First World War meant no exhibition was held in 1914, and the event was not revived after the war. The "Dominion Exhibition Display Building II" in Brandon, a wooden building purpose-built for the 1913 exhibition, was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1999 as it is the only known surviving building constructed for the Dominion Exhibition. Beltline is a region of central Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The area is located immediately to the south of Calgary's downtown (south of 9th Avenue and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks), and is sometimes considered part of downtown.
