The Cadbury chocolate factory is a five story building located in Gladstone Avenue, Toronto. It was constructed by William Neilson in 1906 and produces all of Cadbury's products sold in Canada. William Neilson (businessman)
William Neilson (March 16, 1844 – February 10, 1915) was a Canadian businessman and founder of William Neilson Limited. Early life Neilson was born in the Ramsay township, Lanark County, Ontario. His working life began as a farmer in Rochester, New York, then moved on to being a machinist's apprentice in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. In 1873 journeyman Neilson worked in Brockville, Ontario, moving on in 1889 to a retail store. Afterward he sold his store in 1890 and moved to Toronto, Ontario and began a grocery store that eventually failed. Leaving his family behind, he moved to North Dakota to work as a farmer with his brother. Founding of William Neilson Limited Returning to Toronto, still in debt, he purchased some cows and began the sale of milk. Neilson then obtained ice-cream manufacturing equipment. Cadbury World is a visitor attraction in Bournville, Birmingham, England, featuring a self-guided exhibition tour, created and run by the Cadbury Company. The tour tells the history of chocolate, and of the Cadbury business. A second location in Dunedin, New Zealand, closed in May 2018. Birmingham Overview Cadbury World was opened on 14 August 1990 by Morgan Anderson on Cadbury's Bournville manufacturing site, and has expanded and developed its content through 'continuous improvement'. Crispy Crunch
Crispy Crunch is a hard chocolate bar with a crispy peanut butter flake inside that is made by Cadbury in Canada. Harold Oswin, an employee of William Neilson, developed "Crispy Crunch" in 1930. History Harold Oswin was a candy roller in Neilson's hard candy room and joined the company when he was fourteen years old. Harold was promoted to Candy maker in the late 1920s. He always had wanted to create a candy bar with peanut butter and so when a chocolate bar contest was announced, he submitted his concept. Harold won the contest and received a $5.00 prize. The original recipe called for a log-shaped bar. Williams Neilson management made the decision to flatten the bar to the shape that it is today. Oswin died in the mid-1990s. A Cadbury Creme Egg is a chocolate confection produced in the shape of an egg, originating from the British chocolatier Fry's in 1963 before being renamed by Cadbury in 1971. Caramilk is the name of two distinct candy bar products made by Cadbury. Both were introduced in 1968. The Canadian version is a milk candy bar filled with caramel.
