Transport in Mumbai is achieved by both public and private transport. As of 2016, 52% of commuters use public transport. Mumbai has the largest organized bus transport network among major Indian cities. Mumbai's public transport consists primarily of rapid transit on exclusive suburban railway lines augmented by commuter rail on main lines serving outlying suburbs, the bus services of the three municipalities making up the metropolitan area, public taxis and auto rickshaws, as well as ferry services. A metro and a monorail system were inaugurated in 2014. A commercial seaplane service was also introduced in 2014. Ulwe (also Ulwa, Ulva, or Ulawe) is a suburb of Raigad District's Navi Mumbai situated beside Belapur and Nerul and home to Navi Mumbai International Airport. It is developed and maintained by CIDCO. Mira-Bhayandar is a city and municipal corporation in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, India located in the northern part of Salsette Island before the Vasai Creek, and shares a border with North Mumbai. The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Transport (MBMT) is a public transport service owned by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), which began operations in 2006 as a local bus services connecting connecting various places in the Mira-Bhayandar area. Presently, these buses are run by a private company Kestrel Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. Kestrel will pay a royalty of Re 1 per kilometer to the MBMT. The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) is an Indian civic transport and electricity provider public body based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was originally set up in 1873 as a tramway company called Bombay Tramway Company Limited.
