Strings (band)
Strings () was a Pakistani pop/rock band composed of two members, plus four live band members from Karachi, Pakistan. The band was initially formed by four college students—Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars), Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesizer) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy (bass guitar)—in 1988. In 1992 the quartet disbanded, only to make a comeback with Maqsood and Kapadia in 2000. While the initial band rode the new wave of Pakistani pop music, the later lineup ushered a revival in the Music of Pakistan, Pakistani music industry. In 1990 the band signed with EMI Records and released their debut album, ''Strings (Strings album), Strings''. Their initial experiments with synthesized sounds and rhythms were not immediately recognised, although ''Strings'' sold 20,000 copies during its first week after release. Faisal Kapadia
Faisal Kapadia () is a Pakistani musician, Musical composition, composer, singer-songwriter, and a guitarist. He is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of rock music band Strings (band), Strings. After dissolution of Strings band, he started singing as solo artist. Faisal Kapadia has directed a number of music videos for his band. Strings made its entry into the Bollywood music in 2006. He along with fellow Strings band member Bilal Maqsood has been a List of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan since September 2005. 2 (Strings Album)
''2'' is the second studio album by Pakistani pop rock band Strings. Singles from the album included "Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar" and "Aaj Mein Khud He Se". It was the sequel of String's first album two years later. Release In 1992, the band developed a follow-up album titled ''2'', released by Shalimar Recording Company. Maqsood, realising that the band needed more exposure, advised that a music video to be shot. He himself took charge of the direction of the video for the song "Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar" and handed it to the STN to be aired on their show. The video was played for a minute on the channel in their hour-long show, and with not many new videos from competing artists, Maqsood's directorial début was an instant success. This decision proved beneficial and "Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar" became a nationwide hit overnight. Anwar Maqsood
Anwar Maqsood Hameedi (born 7 September 1939; ), popularly known as Anwar Maqsood, is a Pakistani scriptwriter, television presenter, satirist, humorist, and infrequent actor. He is well known for his drama write-ups for PTV in the late 1970s and 1980s. Early life and family Anwar Maqsood was born on 7 September 1939 in Hyderabad State. He studied at the Gulbarga Trust School in Aurangabad. His large family migrated to Karachi in 1948, after the creation of Pakistan in 1947. His childhood years were spent in PIB Colony, Karachi with his siblings and family. Maqsood belongs to a prominent family of Pakistan and some of his siblings are well known in their own right; his sister, Fatima Surayya Bajia was a well-known writer in Pakistan and South Asia whose marriage ended early in divorce. ''Shootout at Lokhandwala'' is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film written and directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Sanjay Gupta, and Ekta Kapoor. Zinda (film)
''Zinda'' (English: ''Alive'') is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language neo noir action film written and directed by Sanjay Gupta, who co-wrote the film with Suresh Nair. It stars Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham, Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitly. Vishal–Shekhar composed the film's thematic music, while the background score was composed by Sanjoy Chowdhury. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (, ; born Pervez Fateh Ali Khan; 13 October 1948 – 16 August 1997), also known by his initials NFAK, was a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music director. Junoon (band)
Junoon ( ) is a Pakistani sufi rock band from Lahore, Punjab (Pakistani province), Punjab, Pakistan, and Tappan, New York, formed in 1990. The band is directed by founder, lead guitarist and songwriter, Salman Ahmad, who was soon joined by keyboardist Nusrat Hussain, bass guitarist Brian O'Connell (musician), Brian O'Connell and vocalist Ali Azmat.
