Racing Louisville Football Club is an American professional Association football, soccer team based in Louisville, Kentucky, that competes in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). It began playing in 2021 at Lynn Family Stadium. The team is owned by Soccer Holdings LLC. The expansion team was announced on October 22, 2019. Currently, they are the only major professional team to play in the state of Kentucky. Lynn Family Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in the Butchertown, Louisville, Butchertown neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It has been home to Louisville City FC of the USL Championship (USLC) since its opening in 2020, along with the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) side Racing Louisville FC since 2021. Lars Kim Björkegren (born 18 December 1981) is a Swedish football manager who was most recently manager of Racing Louisville FC in the U.S. National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). He was hired from Cyprus champions Apollon Ladies FC after the 2020–21 European season. Mario Sanchez (soccer)
Mario Sanchez (born January 28, 1975) is an American soccer coach and former player who is currently the technical director for USL Championship club FC Tulsa. He is the former head coach of Louisville City U-23, the SIUE Cougars men's soccer team, and the UNLV Rebels men's soccer team. Sanchez played professionally in the USISL and USL A-League, winning the 1996 and 1997 USISL championship with the Central Coast Roadrunners. 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup
The 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup was a league cup tournament that took place during the 2021 National Women's Soccer League season. It began on April 9 and ended May 8, one week before the start of the regular season. It was the second iteration of the NWSL Challenge Cup tournament, which had started in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and was announced as a regular event later in 2020. Christy Holly (born 21 December 1984) is a Northern Irish former footballer and coach. From 12 August 2020 to 31 August 2021, he was the head coach of Racing Louisville in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
