Postmodern Theatre
Postmodern theatre is a recent phenomenon in world theatre, coming as it does out of the postmodern philosophy that originated in Europe in the middle of the twentieth century. Postmodern theatre emerged as a reaction against modernist theatre. Most postmodern productions are centered on highlighting the fallibility of definite truth, instead encouraging the audience to reach their own individual understanding. Essentially, thus, postmodern theatre raises questions rather than attempting to supply answers. Dummies Theatre
Dummies Theatre was a Canadian Experimental theatre, experimental and interdisciplinary contemporary theatre company known for creating free Site-specific theatre, site-specific works and daring productions in vacant stores located in Montreal during the 1990s. History The group was founded in April, 1992 by actors Anna Papadakos, Carlo Alacchi, filmmaker Pascal Maeder and soundman Dave Ballard for the production of the original play ''Dummies in the Window''. The production took place in the vacant store below Papadakos and Maeder's apartment on Boulevard Saint-Laurent (Montreal), Montreal's Boulevard Saint-Laurent. The actors commissioned installation artist :fr:Pierre Allard (artiste), Pierre Allard to create a storefront display. Postmodern Philosophy
Postmodern philosophy is a philosophy, philosophical movement that arose in the second half of the 20th century as a critical response to assumptions allegedly present in Modernism#Origins, modernist philosophical ideas regarding culture, identity, history, or language that were developed during the 18th-century Age of Enlightenment. Postmodernist thinkers developed concepts like ''différance'', repetition, Trace (deconstruction), trace, and hyperreality to subvert "grand narratives", univocity of being, and epistemic certainty. Postmodern philosophy questions the importance of power relationships, personalization, and discourse in the "construction" of truth and world views. Reza Abdoh
Reza Abdoh (; also Romanized as "Rezā Abdoh", ) (February 23, 1963 – May 11, 1995) was an Iranian-born director and playwright known for large-scale, experimental theatrical productions, often staged in unusual spaces like warehouses and abandoned buildings. Early life and family Abdoh was born in Tehran in 1963, the first child of Ali Abdoh, a prominent athlete, businessman and founder of the Persepolis Football Club, and Homa Oboodi (née Mohajerin). His paternal grandfather was Mohammad Abdoh Boroujerdi, a chief justice and expert in Islamic law in the Reza Shah era. Abdoh had two brothers, Sardar "Sid" Abdoh and Salar Abdoh, and one sister, Negar. He had one half-sister, Regina, from his father's previous marriage to an American woman. Postmodern art is a body of art movements that sought to contradict some aspects of modernism or some aspects that emerged or developed in its aftermath.
