Philles Records Artists
Philles Records was an American record label formed in 1961 by Phil Spector and Lester Sill, the label taking its name from a hybrid of their first names. Initially, the label was distributed by Jamie/Guyden in Philadelphia. In 1962, Spector purchased Sill's stock to become sole owner at 21 years of age, America's youngest label chief at the time. Founding and background The label issued 12 albums over the course of its existence, but with the exception of ''A Christmas Gift for You'', the focus was always on the single. However, Philles X-125 is a reissue of Philles 119, and X-125 exists with two different B-side tracks, as "Winter Wonderland" (1964) and "Winter Blues" (1965) were substituted for the original flipside, "Harry and Milt Meet Hal B" (1963). "Harry and Milt" and many other flipsides were deliberately undistinguished instrumentals, which were intended to focus attention on the A-sides. Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. ''Just Once in My Life'' is the 1965 album by the American music duo the Righteous Brothers. According to Bill Medley, he was allowed to produce most of the tracks in the album, including "Unchained Melody" which was originally intended only as an album track because co-producer Phil Spector was interested only in producing singles. The album reached No. 9 on ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States. Singles The title track " Just Once in My Life" was the first single released from the album, and it reached No. 9 on the singles chart in May 1965. The single "Unchained Melody" was initially only intended as a B-side for "Hung on You" from the next album ''Back to Back'', but it became popular and it was then released as an A side, reaching at No. 4 in the United States and No. 14 in the United Kingdom in 1965. Ike Turner
Izear Luster "Ike" Turner Jr. (November 5, 1931 – December 12, 2007) was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, record producer, and talent scout. An early pioneer of 1950s rock and roll, he is best known for his work in the 1960s and 1970s with his then-wife Tina Turner as the leader of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. A native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Turner began playing piano and guitar as a child and then formed the Kings of Rhythm as a teenager. His first recording, " Rocket 88" (credited to Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats), is considered a contender for the distinction of first rock and roll song. During the 1950s, Turner also worked as a talent scout and producer for Sun Records and Modern Records. He was instrumental in the early careers of various blues musicians such as B.B. ABKCO Music & Records, Inc. (Allen & Betty Klein Company) is a major American independent record label, music publisher, and film and video production company. It owns and/or administers the rights to music by Sam Cooke, the Rolling Stones, the Animals, Herman's Hermits, Marianne Faithfull, Dishwalla, the Kinks as well as the Cameo Parkway label, which includes recordings by such artists as Chubby Checker, Bobby Rydell, the Orlons, the Dovells, Question Mark & the Mysterians, the Tymes and Dee Dee Sharp.
