Nanyang (region)
Nanyang () is the Chinese language, Chinese term for the warmer and fertile geographical region along the South China, southern coastal regions of China and beyond, otherwise known as the 'Four Seas, South Sea' or Southeast Asia. The term came into common usage in self-reference to the large Han Chinese, ethnic Chinese migrant population in Southeast Asia, and is contrasted with ''Xiyang'' (), which refers to the Western world, and ''Dongyang'' (), which refers to Japan. Nanyang Commandery
Nanyang Commandery ( zh, 南陽郡) was a Chinese commandery that existed from the Warring States period to Tang dynasty. It was centered in present-day Nanyang, Henan. History Nanyang Commandery was established by Qin in the 35th year of King Zhao (272 BC). The seat was Wan (), present-day Nanyang, Henan. It consisted of the land north of the Han River previously conquered from Chu. Dafeng
Dafeng District () is a coastal district in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, China. Located on the Jiangsu North Plain with a coastline of , Dafeng was historically one of the largest salt-making areas in China and now is famed for its well preserved eco-system and numerous national conservation parks. The district has the largest national nature reserve for a rare deer species, Père David's Deer or Milu () in Chinese. It borders the prefecture-level city of Taizhou to the southwest. The district nicknamed "the enclave of Shanghai" was a major destination for the sent-down youth from the city. Leiyang
Leiyang () is a county-level city and the third most populous county-level division in Hunan Province, China. Leiyang is under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Hengyang. Located on the south of the province, the city is bordered to the north by Hengnan County, to the west by Changning City, to the south by Guiyang and Yongxing counties, and to the east by Anren County. Xingshan County
Xingshan County () is a county of western Hubei, People's Republic of China. It is under the administration of Yichang Prefecture-level City. Geography The county occupies the mountainous north-western corner of Yichang prefecture ("prefecture-level city"), bordering on Badong County in the west and Shennongjia in the north. The highest mountains within the county are Mount Wanchao ( elevation) and Mount Wanfu (). The county seat is in Gaofu town; this is the location that is simply marked as "Xingshan" on less detailed maps. Although the county is away from the Yangtze River itself, and most of its land is at high elevations, the construction of the Three Gorges Dam resulted in the flooding of the valley of the Yangtze's tributary Xiang Xi (香溪, "Fragrant Stream"), where many of the county's residents lived.
