Muhlenberg County, Kentucky
Muhlenberg County () is a county in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 30,928. Its county seat is Greenville and its largest city is Central City. History Muhlenberg County was formed in 1798 from the areas known as Logan and Christian counties. Muhlenberg was the 34th county to be founded in Kentucky. Muhlenberg was named after General Peter Muhlenberg, who was a colonial general during the American Revolutionary War. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has an area of , of which is land and (2.6%) is water. Features The two primary aquatic features of Muhlenberg County are the Green River and Lake Malone. Muhlenberg College is a private liberal arts college in Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg College is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is named for Henry Muhlenberg, the German patriarch of Lutheranism in the United States. History 19th century Muhlenberg College was founded in 1848 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, as the Allentown Seminary by Samuel K. Brobst, a Reformed Lutheran minister. Christian Rudolph Kessler was the school's first teacher and administrator. The college operated as the Allentown Seminary from 1848 to 1864, as the Allentown Collegiate and Military Institute from 1864 to 1867, and briefly as the Allentown Collegiate Institute in 1867. The Muhlenberg Area School District is a mid-sized, suburban, public school district serving parts of Berks County, Pennsylvania. It encompasses the borough of Laureldale and the Muhlenberg Township. Muhlenberg Township, Pennsylvania
Muhlenberg Township (pronounced "MYOO-len-burg") is a township in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 21,915 at the 2020 census, making it the third-most populous township in Berks County after Spring Township and Exeter Township. The township was named for U.S. Congressman Henry Augustus Muhlenberg, grandson of Henry Muhlenberg, and who is featured on the township seal. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 12.2 square miles (31.6 km), of which 12.0 square miles (31.1 km) is land and 0.2 square mile (0.5 km) (1.48%) is water. It is drained by the Schuylkill River, which forms its natural western boundary. Lake Muhlenberg
Lake Muhlenberg, sometimes called Muhlenberg Lake, is a lake in Cedar Creek Park located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Overview The lake is so-named due to its proximity to Muhlenberg College, which was named for Henry Muhlenberg, the patriarch of the Lutheran Church in the United States. The lake is situated in Cedar Creek Park and is part of Allentown's park system. Lake Muhlenberg is stocked for fishing and is a refuge for many ducks and Canada geese. Cedar Creek flows into and out of the lake. In its center is Sparkle Island. In 2013, the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society installed a tall chimney swift tower on the island. The tower has insulation panels to prevent the chimney from getting too hot in late spring, which could threaten wildlife living there. Mühleberg
Mühleberg is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. History Mühleberg is first mentioned in 1011–16 as ''Mulinberg''. There are several Hallstatt era grave mounds around Mühleberg; the most important is the so-called ''Unghürhubel'' (monster hill). At ''Unghürhubel'' in 1869, an ornamented choker made of heavy gold plate and a gold bracelet or strip with four rows with half-moon shapes were discovered. A number of other less valuable artifacts and metal items were probably destroyed during the excavation. The church and village of Mühleberg belonged to a cadet branch of the von Buch family starting in 1387. It was then owned by the Brüggler family (starting in 1440) and the Herren family (in 1579), who sold it to Bern in 1599.
