Limpurg Hills
The Limpurg Hills (german: Limpurger Berge) are a hill range, up to , in the Swabian-Franconian Forest in the counties of Schwäbisch Hall and Ostalbkreis in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The majority of the region belonged formerly to Limpurg Land owned by the family of Schenken von Limpurg, whose name was derived from their family home, Limpurg Castle near Schwäbisch Hall. Geography Location The Limpurg Hills lie about 55 kilometres northeast of Stuttgart and around 60 kilometres (both as the crow flies) east-southeast of Heilbronn, between the Haller Ebene to the north, the Ellwangen Hills to the east and southeast, the Frickenhofer Höhe to the south, the Mainhardt Forest to the west and the Waldenburg Hills to the northwest. Swabian-Franconian Forest
The Swabian-Franconian Forest (german: Schwäbisch-Fränkischen Waldberge, also ''Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald'') is a mainly forested, deeply incised upland region, 1,187 km² in area and up to , in the northeast of Baden-Württemberg. It forms natural region major unit number 108 within the Swabian Keuper-Lias Land (major unit group 10 or D58). Its name is derived from the fact that, in medieval times, the border between the duchies of Franconia and Swabia ran through this forested region. In addition, the Swabian dialect in the south transitions to the East Franconian dialect in the north here. Waldenburg Hills
The Waldenburg Hills (german: Waldenburger Berge) are a forested hill range, up to , in the counties of Schwäbisch Hall and Hohenlohe in the south German state of Baden-Württemberg. At the same time the Waldenburg Hills are one of five woodland regions in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park, which forms the western part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest. Its name is derived from the town of Waldenburg on its northern perimeter. Geography The Waldenburg Hills lies in the northeastern part of the aforementioned nature park roughly about 50 km northeast of Stuttgart and about 30 km (both as the crow flies) east of Heilbronn between the Hohenlohe Plain to the north, the Halle Plain to the east, the Limpurg Hills to the southeast and the Mainhardt Forest to the south and southwest. Abtsgmünd is a municipality in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, in Ostalbkreis district. Abtsgmünd is located at the confluence of two streams, the Lein and the Kocher. Blinde Rot
The Blinde Rot, also called the Adelmannsfelder Rot, is a river in the Ellwangen Hills in the north of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, that rises in the municipality Frankenhardt and discharges into the Kocher in the municipality of Abtsgmünd. Geography The Blinde Rot rises on the gravel sandstone plateau on the northern foothills of the Ellwangen Hills, flows shortly thereafter through the lake of Fleckenbachsee and then meanders southwards through river meadows, before swinging abruptly west in front of the Hornberg hill, about 2 km before emptying into the Kocher near Schäufele. The whole length of its valley lies on the Middle Keuper rocks.
