Highpointing
Highpointing is the activity of ascending to the point with the highest natural elevation within a given area, known as the highpoint. Those who pursue the activity are known as highpointers. Highpointing has been considered a subset of peak bagging, the goal of which is to reach the summit of every mountain on a certain list. History and background Highpointing has its roots in the United States. Starting in the early 20th century, a few pioneers of highpointing began visiting the List of U.S. states and territories by elevation, highest natural point in each of the 50 U.S. states. In the early days, this endeavor involved dispute and original research, as the tools to precisely map the country were just beginning to find widespread use. Geocaching
Geocaching (, ) is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called ''geocaches'' or ''caches'', at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. The first geocache was placed in 2000, and by 2023 there were over 3 million active caches worldwide. Geocaching can be considered a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and sometimes a pen or pencil. The ''geocacher'' signs the log with their established code name/username and dates it, in order to prove that they found the cache. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Eamon Christopher McKinley "Ginge" Fullen (born 1967/1968) is a British mountaineer and former Royal Navy clearance diver who holds the Guinness World Records for the fastest climbs of every country high point in Europe and Africa.
