Henry (given Name)
Henry is a masculine given name derived from Old French ''Henri'' or ''Henry'', which is derived from the Old Frankish name ''Heimeric'', from Common Germanic “''Haimarīks”'' (from '':wikt:Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/haimaz, *haima-'' "home" and ''*rīk-'' "ruler"). In Old High German, the name was conflated with the name ''Haginrich'' (from ''hagin'' "enclosure" and ''rich'' "ruler") to form Heinrich (given name), Heinrich. The Old High German name is recorded from the 8th century, in the variants ''Haimirich, Haimerich, Heimerich, Hemirih''. Harry (given name), Harry, its English short form, was considered the "spoken form" of Henry in medieval England. Most English kings named ''Henry'' were called ''Harry''. The name became so popular in England that the phrase "Tom, Dick and Harry, Tom, Dick, and Harry" began to be used to refer to men in general. The most common English feminine forms of the name are Harriet (name), Harriet and Henrietta (given name), Henrietta. An It ...

Henry (unit)
The henry (symbol: H) is the unit of electrical inductance in the International System of Units (SI), defined as 1 kg⋅ m2⋅ s−2⋅ A−2. If a current of 1 ampere flowing through a coil produces flux linkage of 1 weber turn, that coil has a self-inductance of 1 henry.‌ The unit is named after Joseph Henry (1797–1878), the American scientist who discovered electromagnetic induction independently of and at about the same time as Michael Faraday (1791–1867) in England. Definition The inductance of an electric circuit is one henry when an electric current that is changing at one ampere per second results in an electromotive force of one volt The volt (symbol: V) is the unit of electric potential, Voltage#Galvani potential vs. electrochemical potential, electric potential difference (voltage), and electromotive force in the International System of Units, International System of Uni ... across the inductor: V(t)= L \frac\,, where is the resulting voltage ac ...

SS Henry
SS ''Henry'' was a Norwegian steam-powered cargo ship best known for being one of the two ships sunk in one of the most controversial incidents in Norway during the Second World War. Before the Second World War ''Henry'' was built in 1907 for the Swedish company Ångfartygs-A/B Nornan of Gothenburg. She sailed for her original owner until she was sold to Egil Krogh in Norway in 1925. After she was sold to the Norwegian company her tonnage was changed from 604 to 628 gross tons. Following the German invasion of Norway in 1940 she came under German overall control, continuing to sail along the coast of occupied Norway. Sinking In the evening of 13 February 1944 ''Henry'' was sailing along the coast near Hustadvika Bay by Hestskjær Lighthouse off the port of Kristiansund in Møre og Romsdal county. She was carrying a cargo of rocks from the Aust-Agder town of Risør northwards along the coastline. In addition to the Norwegians on board ''Henry'' she carried four German A ...

She was later re-measured was long, with a beam of and a depth of ; her builder's old measurement was then 1,081 tons. By 1677 her armament had been increased to 82 guns.Lavery, Ships of the Line Vol. 1, p. 160. Henry (Martian Crater)
Henry is a large crater in the Arabia quadrangle of Mars. It is in diameter and was named after the brothers Paul Henry and Prosper Henry, both of whom were French telescope makers and astronomers. Arago crater is to the east of Henry, Barth crater is to the southeast, and Pasteur crater is to the north. Layers Henry crater has a large mound in its center that shows layers in certain parts. The layers can be a few meters thick or tens of meters thick. Recent research on these layers by scientists at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) suggest that ancient climate change on Mars caused by regular variation in the planet's tilt, or obliquity may have caused the patterns in the layers. On Earth, similar changes (astronomical forcing) of climate results in ice-age cycles. In a recent study of layers in craters in western Arabia Terra much was learned about the layers. Each layer may average under 4 meters in one crater, but 20 meters in another. Although the c ...

Henry (lunar Crater)
Henry is a lunar impact crater that is located to the northwest of the larger crater Cavendish, in the southeastern part of the Moon The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It Orbit of the Moon, orbits around Earth at Lunar distance, an average distance of (; about 30 times Earth diameter, Earth's diameter). The Moon rotation, rotates, with a rotation period (lunar ...'s near side. It was named after the Scottish-American scientist Joseph Henry. Less than a half diameter to the northwest is similar-sized crater Henry Frères, named for the brothers Paul and Prosper Henry. The outer rim of Henry has undergone some impact erosion, particularly in the south and southeast where it is overlain by a pair of small craters. The former crater lies along the inner wall and part of the interior floor, with a rampart ridge to the north. The rim bulges outward slightly between these two depressions, and there are slight outward bulges to the north and northeast. The inte ...

Astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt landed to the southwest of it in 1972, on the Apollo 17 mission. Henry is northwest of Shakespeare and Van Serg, and west of Cochise. It is south of Geology Station 6 of the Apollo 17 mission. The crater's name is currently informal and not recognized by the International Astronomical Union The International Astronomical Union (IAU; , UAI) is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) with the objective of advancing astronomy in all aspects, including promoting astronomical research, outreach, education, and developmen ... (IAU), although nearly all the other features within the Taurus–Littrow valley that were named by the astronauts are. Possibly part of the reason is that the IAU recognizes the larger lunar crater Henry. The crater was named by the astronauts after the Portuguese Prince ...
