Goirle
Goirle () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and town in the southern Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. Part of the suburban area of the city of Tilburg, it shares with it its phone area code and public transport system. The municipality also includes the villages of Breehees and Riel, Goirle, Riel. Martin Van Geel
Martin van Geel (born 27 November 1960 in Goirle) is a retired Netherlands, Dutch footballer who was active as a midfielder. Van Geel made his professional debut on at 24 August 1977 Willem II (football club), Willem II, and also played for AFC Ajax, Ajax, Roda JC and Feyenoord. After his playing career ended, Van Geel moved into the front offices of a number of Dutch football clubs, holding technical director positions at AZ Alkmaar, AZ, Ajax, Roda JC, Feyenoord, and most recently Willem II, which earned promotion back into the Eredivisie in 2024 under Van Geel's stewardship. It was announced on 16 May 2024 that, on 1 July, Van Geel would be stepping down from his position with Willem II and assuming the role of technical manager of the Eredivisie. John Boxtel
John Boxtel (21 June 1930 – 1 October 2022) was a Dutch-Canadian sculptor and art teacher. His works include sculpture, woodcarving, architectural drafting, design, and building. Biography Born in Goirle, Netherlands, Boxtel studied architecture at the Technical School in Tilburg, Netherlands. After emigrating to Canada in 1954, he studied at the University of Toronto, Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Ontario, and the Artists' Workshop in London, Ontario. In 1967, he became an art teacher. Boxtel had gallery exhibitions in Toronto, Hamilton, Montreal, Kingston, Boston, and the Netherlands. His public commissioned works for monuments were done in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, and United States. Jan Baptist Jozef "Tiest" van Gestel (29 March 1881 – 9 February 1969) was an archer from the Netherlands. He was born in Goirle and died in Goirle. He represented his native country at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. Jan Taminiau
Jan Taminiau (born 14 September 1975) is a Dutch clothes designer who launched his own fashion label bearing his name (written as one word) in 2003. He designed a dress worn by Princess Maxima during the opening of the Mode Biennale exhibition in Arnhem in June 2009. Based in Amsterdam, Taminiau had an atelier located in the heart of the Red-light district, Red-Light prostitution district in Amsterdam. Riel, Goirle
Riel is a village (Dutch: '' dorp'') in the municipality of Goirle, south of Tilburg in the province of North Brabant. Until 1997 it belonged to the municipality Alphen en Riel. On the east it is bordered by the stream valley of the river Donge, on the west by the deactivated railroad Turnhout- Tilburg. Riel is a so-called ''esdorp''. The village grew and stretched out as new enclosures took place alongside the main road. First development took place as early as in the 7th century, with a peak in the 12th century when the church stimulated the enclosure of the common grounds and development. Floor Jansen (; born 21 February 1981) is a Dutch singer and songwriter. She is the third and current lead vocalist of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Pepijn van Erp (born 1972) is a Dutch mathematician and skeptical activist. Van Erp studied mathematics at the Radboud University Nijmegen, graduating in 1999. After graduating, Van Erp worked as a statistics consultant at the PTT. Between 2002 and 2005, he lived in Tanzania.
