Comedo Extraction
Comedo extraction is a widely used method of treatment for acne vulgaris. A dermatologist or cosmetologist may extract blackheads (open comedones) using gentle pressure around the pore opening, and whiteheads (closed comedones) by incision with a large needle or a blade. If performed skillfully, this treatment may be beneficial to the patient. Possible negative effects of the procedure include incomplete extraction, refilling, scarring and tissue damage. There are few articles describing the use of comedo extraction in peer-reviewed dermatology journals. In one study in 1964 of extraction of non-inflamed whiteheads on patients' foreheads (the only study of the procedure cited in a 2007 literature review A literature review is an overview of previously published works on a particular topic. Anatomy Of A Stroke
In rowing (sport), the stroke is the action of moving the oar through the water in order to propel the boat forward. The two fundamental reference points in the stroke are the ''catch'' where the oar blade is placed in the water, and the ''extraction'' (also known as the 'finish', 'release' or 'tapping down') where the oar blade is removed from the water. After the blade is placed in the water at the ''catch'', the rower applies pressure to the oar levering the boat forward which is called the ''drive'' phase of the stroke. Once the rower extracts the oar from the water, the ''recovery'' phase begins, setting up the rower's body for the next stroke.; when the oars are out of the water, and the preparation for the catch occurs Stages of a stroke Drive The drive is the phase from the catch to the extraction. *As soon as the oar blade is placed in the water at the catch, the rower begins to lever the boat past the blade by straightening the legs while the body remains leaned forwar ...

Literary Extract
A literary fragment is a piece of text that may be part of a larger work, or that employs a 'fragmentary' form characterised by physical features such as short paragraphs or sentences separated by white space, and thematic features such as discontinuity, ambivalence, ambiguity, or lack of a traditional narrative structure. While it is difficult to classify literary fragments, a number of critics agree on a basic taxonomy of two types of fragment: those who intentionally use fragmentation as a form in their writing, and those that are fragmented because they are incomplete or because parts have been lost over time. As a form, the literary fragment has been employed during the Romantic, Modernist, Postmodern and Contemporary literary periods as a way to reckon with the challenges of modernity. Criticism and theory The literary fragment and the concept of fragmentariness presents several challenges to literary criticism, in part because of the difficulty in determining what const ...

Extraction (military)
In military tactics, extraction is the process of removing personnel or units from an area; when conducted with stealth in an area controlled by the enemy it is referred to as exfiltration. An example of a hostile extraction was Battle of Boz Qandahari, in which U.S. Army Special Forces used donkeys to reach their extraction point while under enemy fire. Another example of an extraction was the joint U.S. Central Intelligence Agency-Canadian government operation to smuggle six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of revolutionary Iran in 1980 in an operation later known as the Canadian Caper. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender.
