Edsbyn () is a locality and the seat of Ovanåker Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 4321 inhabitants in 2020. It is located in the historical province of Hälsingland. Edsbyn is most famous for its former ski and nowadays office furniture manufacturing industry Edsbyverken; the sports club Edsbyns IF; and being the hometown of the creator of Minecraft, Markus Persson throughout his early childhood. Transport Rail Edsbyn, along with Alfta and other settlements in the area, used to have rail service along the Bollnäs–Orsa Railway. It was completed in January 1900 as a means of transporting forestry products from the area, with passenger service following, operated by SJ. During the 1960s, an improved road network took over large amounts of both passenger and cargo traffic that used to be carried by rail. Edsbyns IF
Edsbyns IF, is a bandy team from Edsbyn in Ovanåker Municipality in Sweden founded on 6 June 1909. The bandy section of the club was founded as late as in 1925 was formally made a club of its own on 28 June 2000. Edsbyns IF has played in the highest bandy league in Sweden from 1945 to 1969 and then again since 1971. History Edsbyns IF was founded in 1909. In September 2003, Edsbyn moved to Edsbyn Arena, the first indoor arena for bandy in Sweden, and won the Swedish Championship final in the end of the season. On 26 March 2004, Edsbyns IF played a men's bandy exhibition game at the Streatham Ice Arena in London against Russian Bandy Super League, Russian Super League team Vodnik Arkhangelsk, Vodnik, which ended with a 10-10 draw. Bollnäs () is a Swedish locality and the seat of Bollnäs Municipality, in Gävleborg County, Sweden. The Inland Line () is a railway line between Kristinehamn and Gällivare in Sweden. It runs through the central parts of northern Sweden, and was built between 1908 and 1937. Bollnäs Municipality () is a municipality in Gävleborg County, east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Bollnäs. The municipality evolved during a series of local government reforms in the 1950s and 1970s. It consists of six original entities and has its present shape since 1977. Geography Through the municipality, from north to southeast, runs the river Ljusnan. Among the localities situated at the river are Bollnäs and Arbrå.
