Ectodini is a tribe of cichlids that are endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. They live in the benthic zone. Most of the genera in this tribe are monotypic. These fishes show diverse morphology and behaviour and the tribe includes taxa which live in sandy, muddy and rocky habitats. Lestradea
''Lestradea'' is a genus of East African cichlids from the Lake Tanganyikan endemic tribe Ectodini. Characteristics The species in ''Lestradea'' have a spindle-shaped, elongated body which is 3.5-4 times longer than it is high. Their dorsal fin has 13-16 spines and 13-16 rays, while the anal fin has 3 spines and 9-11 rays. The outermost ray in the ventral fins is elongated. They have two lateral lines. Aulonocranus
''Aulonocranus dewindti'' is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika and some rivers which flow into it. Description ''Aulonocranus dewindti'' has a body shape that is moderately elongated and compressed, with the length of the body being roughly three times its height. The ventral fins have a long filamentous, the first spine which reaches the anal fin in adult males. The caudal fin us crescent-shaped. There are 33-36 scales along the longest line of the body. There is a system of sensory pores on the head region and there are two lateral lines. The lower pharyngeal bone is triangular in shape and has very fine subconical teeth, the mouth is terminal slightly protruding lower jaw. The teeth in the jaws are very small and conical and are arranged in 2-3 rows on each jaw. The body is silvery in colour and the males are marked with longitudinal yellow stripes. Pseudocrenilabrinae
The Pseudocrenilabrinae are a subfamily in the cichlid family of fishes to which, according to a study from 2004, includes all the Middle Eastern and African cichlids with the exception of the unusual '' Heterochromis multidens'' and the Malagasy species. This subfamily includes more than 1,100 species. Previous authors recognized additional African subfamilies, e.g. the Tilapiinae of Hoedeman (1947), Tylochrominae of Poll (1986), or Boulengerochrominae of Tawil (2001).
