Digital forensics (sometimes known as digital forensic science) is a branch of forensic science encompassing the recovery, investigation, examination, and analysis of material found in digital devices, often in relation to mobile devices and computer crime. The term "digital forensics" was originally used as a synonym for computer forensics but has been expanded to cover investigation of all devices capable of Computer data storage, storing digital data. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC; pronounced ) is a law enforcement training school under the United States Department of Homeland Security, serving 105 Federal law enforcement in the United States, federal law enforcement agencies within the Federal government of the United States, United States federal government. Through the Rural Policing Institute (RPI) and the Office of State and Local Training, it also provides tuition-free and low-cost training to state, local, campus, and tribal law enforcement agencies.
