Communist Party of Nepal (United) was a political party in Nepal. It was founded in 2007, following a split in the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist). Chandra Dev Joshi chairman of the party and Sunil Manandhar general secretary of the party. In 2008 Nepal's first openly homosexual representative, Sunil Babu Pant was elected to the Constituent Assembly from the party list. The party merged into CPN (Maoist Centre) on 11 October 2017 ahead of the 2017 elections. History The party was founded following a split in the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist) when Ganesh Shah and Chandra Dev Joshi broke away from the party. Ganesh Shah
Ganesh Shah ( born 12 December 1949) is a Nepalese politician and ex-Minister for Environment, Science and Technology. He is also one of the senior most leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (United) and until recently was the General Secretary of the party Communist Party of Nepal (United). Shah is a chemical engineer by profession and received his M-Tech (Technical Engineering) from Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University in 1973. Shah was appointed the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology when Prachanda extended his cabinet. Proportional representation (PR) refers to any electoral system under which subgroups of an electorate are reflected proportionately in the elected body. Sadbhavana Party is a political party in Nepal. The party emerged from a major split in the Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) in the summer of 2007. Laxman Lal Karna was the joint chair of the party. The Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum, Nepal (MJFN), or the Madhesi People's Rights Forum, Nepal, was a political party in Nepal. Constituent Assembly elections were held in Nepal on 19 November 2013. The vote was repeatedly delayed, having previously been planned for 22 November 2012 following the dissolution of the 1st Constituent Assembly on 27 May 2012, but it was put off by the election commission. The Nepali Congress emerged as the largest party in the 2nd Nepalese Constituent Assembly, winning 196 of the 575 elected seats.
