''Chusaris'' is a genus of moths of the family Erebidae. It was erected by Francis Walker in 1859. Description Palpi long and porrect (extending forward), where the second joint fringed with scales above. Third joint slender and naked. Thorax smooth. Abdomen with a tuft on basal segment. Legs slender and naked. Forewings long and narrow with depressed and acute apex. Slight raised tufts found at middle and end of cell. Forewings with veins 6 and 7 arise from angle of cell and veins 8 to 10 stalked. Hindwings with veins 3 and 4 stalked and vein 5 from middle of discocellulars. Veins 6 and 7 stalked. Francis Walker (entomologist)
Francis Walker (31 July 1809 – 5 October 1874) was an English entomologist. He was born in Southgate, London, on 31 July 1809 and died at Wanstead, England on 5 October 1874. He was one of the most prolific authors in entomology, and stirred controversy during his later life as his publications resulted in a huge number of junior synonyms. However, his assiduous work on the collections of the British Museum had great significance. Between June 1848 and late 1873 Walker was contracted by John Edward Gray Director of the Natural History Museum, London, British Museum to catalogue their insects (except Coleoptera) that is Orthoptera, Neuroptera, Hemiptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera.
