Cheshire Bridge Road is a mainly north–south thoroughfare of Atlanta, Georgia, USA traversing the Morningside-Lenox Park and Lindridge-Martin Manor neighborhoods from Piedmont Avenue to Buford Highway just north of Interstate 85. While the corridor was originally settled during the 1800s, it was not until the 1950s and 1960s that it rapidly developed as a commercial center dominated by strip malls. Cheshire Farm Trail
The Cheshire Farm Trail is a walking trail along the South Fork of Peachtree Creek in Atlanta. The trail was completed in 2014 and opened to the public after a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 23, 2014. The trail cost about , and was funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation to appease local residents who were unhappy about the construction of a flyover for the Georgia 400/I-85 interchange. The trail is named for Hezekiel Cheshire, a captain in the War of 1812 who lived and farmed in the area and built a farmhouse near the location of the current trailhead. The neighborhood planning unit (NPU) is a community-scale governmental structure used in the City of Atlanta, Georgia. History The system was established in 1974 by Atlanta's first black mayor, Maynard Holbrook Jackson. His aim was to ensure that citizens, particularly those who had been historically disenfranchised, would be in a position to comment on the structure of their communities, and to ensure that the citizens would not have this ability stripped of them by politicians who found an involved and engaged public inconvenient. Mayor Jackson had the NPU system placed within the City Charter, which can only be changed by the Georgia Legislature. Morningside/Lenox Park is an intown neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia founded in 1923. It is located north of Virginia-Highland, east of Ansley Park and west of Druid Hills.
