Changing Of The Seasons (album)
''Changing of the Seasons'' is the fourth studio album by Norwegian people, Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun, released on 12 March 2008 in Norway and Sweden, 14 October 2008 in the US, and on 2 February 2009 in the UK. The album became her breakthrough record outside of Scandinavia when the bonus track "True Colors (Cyndi Lauper song), True Colors", a cover of the 1985 Cyndi Lauper song, was used in a television advertisement for Sky+ HD in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The other bonus track is a cover of Alphaville (band), Alphaville's 1984 hit single "Big in Japan (Alphaville song), Big in Japan", recorded as part of the soundtrack for the Swedish TV documentary programme ''Stor i Japan''. The version of the album with the two bonus tracks was released in Europe on 7 December 2008 and in the UK in February 2009. Ane Brun
Ane Brun (; born Ane Brunvoll on 10 March 1976) is a Norwegian songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist of Sami origin. Since 2003, she has recorded ten albums, eight of which are studio albums of original material (including a collection of duets), an acoustic album, and a covers album; she has also released three live albums, two compilations, one live DVD, and four EPs. She has lived in Stockholm, Sweden, since 2001, where she writes, records, and runs her own label (Balloon Ranger Recordings). ''Uncut'' is a monthly magazine based in London. It is available across the English-speaking world, and focuses on music, but also includes film and books sections. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. The magazine was acquired in 2019 by Singaporean music company BandLab Technologies, and has been published by NME Networks since December 2021. Marian Gold
Marian Gold (born Hartwig Schierbaum; 26 May 1954) is a German singer-songwriter who gained fame as the lead singer of the German synth-pop recording act Alphaville, but also has recorded as a solo artist. He is known for his tenor multi-octave vocal range. Biography Early life Born in Herford, West Germany, Gold became part of the Berlin art collective the Nelson Community, where he formed the band Chinchilla Green in the late 1970s, which also included future Alphaville colleague Bernhard Lloyd. Alphaville In 1982, he joined Lloyd and Frank Mertens in the band Forever Young, which soon became Alphaville. Tom Kelly (musician)
Thomas F. Kelly (born April 16, 1952) is an American musician, best known for his songwriting partnership with Billy Steinberg. Steinberg and Kelly co-wrote numerous hit songs for popular music artists, including five number-one singles on the ''Billboard'' Top 100 chart in the 1980s. Early life Originally from Indiana, Kelly lived in Effingham, Illinois from 1963 to 1966, before moving back to West Lafayette, Indiana where he graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1967. Kelly attended Eastern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and Purdue University, but dropped out of college to pursue his music career. Billy Steinberg
William Endfield Steinberg (born February 26, 1950) is an American songwriter. He achieved his greatest success in the 1980s with songwriting partner Tom Kelly; together they wrote or co-wrote the No. 1 hits " Like a Virgin" by Madonna (1984), " True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper (1986), "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles (1989), " So Emotional" by Whitney Houston (1987) and "Alone" (covered by Heart in 1987). Koop (band)
Koop was an electronic jazz duo from Sweden, consisting of Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson. Their music consists of mostly vocal jazz created by putting together thousands of different song samples and has been described as a blend between 1960s jazz, swing and Caribbean music. Koop ended their collaboration in 2008, with Simonsson continuing to compose and tour under the name Koop Oscar Orchestra. History Zingmark and Simonsson met while attending university in Uppsala and formed the band in 1995, before moving to Stockholm. According to Simonsson, his passion for the genre came about by growing up in a house where jazz was frequently played, with his father playing jazz drums in his youth. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Alphaville (band)
Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in Münster in 1982. They gained popularity in the 1980s. The group was founded by singer Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Mertens. They achieved chart success with the singles " Forever Young", " Big in Japan", " Sounds Like a Melody", " The Jet Set" and " Dance with Me". Gold remains the only continuous member of Alphaville. Sky+ HD
Sky+ HD was the brand name of the HDTV service launched by Sky plc on 22 May 2006 in the United Kingdom and Ireland to enable high definition channels on Sky to be viewed. For the first two years after launch, the service was branded Sky HD. The service requires the user to have a Sky+ HD Digibox and an HD ready TV. A subscription to the original HD pack carries an extra fee of £10.25 (€15.00 in Ireland) a month in addition to the standard Sky subscription, allowing customers to view HD channels corresponding to the channel packs subscribed to. Additional Pay-Per-View events on Sky Box Office HD are not available to customers unless they subscribe to the Sky HD pack.
