Castleton Station (Vermont)
Castleton station is an Amtrak intercity train station in Castleton, Vermont. Originally built by the Rutland and Whitehall Railroad in 1850, the depot is now privately owned, and is located across from the northern terminus of the Delaware and Hudson Rail Trail. Castleton replaced Fair Haven station on the ''Ethan Allen Express'' in January 2010. It serves nearby Castleton University and Lake Bomoseen. The station has one short low-level wooden side platform to the east of the track. History The station building was constructed in 1850. Passenger service on the line between Whitehall and Rutland ended on June 24, 1934. In 1966, the Delaware and Hudson Railroad sold the station to the Jakubowski family. The ''Ethan Allen Express'' began service between New York City and Rutland on December 2, 1996. An infill station was opened at Fair Haven in November 1997. Castleton Railway Station
Castleton railway station serves Castleton in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. It is 8¾ miles (14 km) north of Manchester Victoria on the Caldervale Line operated and managed by Northern. History The original station opened in 1839, at Blue Pits on the western side of the Rochdale-Manchester Road bridge. It was originally called ''Blue Pits for Heywood''. The current station opened on 1 November 1875. The Liverpool and Bury Railway from Bolton (extended through from Bolton and beyond in 1848 to join the earlier M&L Heywood branch previously opened in 1841, which was worked by horses) used to join the main line at a triangular junction a short distance south of the station. This was at one time a busy passenger and freight route often used by trains avoiding the busy Manchester area, but was closed to passengers on 5 October 1970. Castleton Moor Railway Station
Castleton Moor is a railway station on the Esk Valley Line, which runs between Middlesbrough and Whitby via Nunthorpe. The station, situated west of Whitby, serves the village of Castleton, Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains. History The station opened in April 1861 as the temporary terminus of the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Railway route from Stokesley. This was extended eastwards to four years later - formal opening occurring on 2 October 1865 with the station being named simply ''Castleton''. A direct link from through to Nunthorpe and was also commissioned at this time – this is the route now used by all trains, as the original line west of Battersby was closed to passengers in June 1954 and completely four years later.
