Caan is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a community belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'' – in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography The community lies in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Siegen on the edge of the Kannenbäckerland. Caan belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Ransbach-Baumbach, a kind of collective municipality. History In 1250, Caan had its first documentary mention. The name Caan describes an old settlement from the noble family "von Kane." In 1352, the Dietkirchen monastery acquired a share of land. A quarry was in operation in Caan in 1756. Politics The municipal council is made up of 12 council members who were elected in a majority vote in a municipal election on 7 June 2009. The current mayor is Roland Lorenz. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN, ) is an independent civil aviation regulator. It was established as a Nepali government body in 1998 and is headquartered in Kathmandu. Before its formation, the functions of the CAAN had been performed since 1957 by an agency within the Ministry of Work, Communications and Transport. On 31 December 1998, as a result of the Civil Aviation Act of 1996, the CAAN was established as an independent regulatory body. It is the board which issues new pilot licenses, renews licenses and convert the licenses through various tests. The Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Division investigates aircraft accidents and incidents. However, as of September 2017, the Government of Nepal is trying to establish an independent aircraft accident investigation unit in order to comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization's regulations. The Consenting Adult Action Network (CAAN) is a grassroots network of individuals in the United Kingdom that was formed in 2008 to protest and oppose laws restricting activities between consenting adults, most notably the criminalisation of possession of "extreme pornography" under Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008. History On 14 June and 22 August, they attempted to seek advice on what material might be caught by the law. They took a dossier of images to three major police forces, although none of them could yet say which pictures would be deemed illegal. On 21 October 2008, they organised a protest with Ben Westwood against the law on "extreme pornography".
