AC Sparta Prague
Athletic Club Sparta Praha (), commonly known as Sparta Prague and Sparta Praha, is a professional association football, football club based in Prague. It is the most successful club in the Czech Republic and one of the most successful in central Europe, winning the central European Cup (also known as the Mitropa Cup) three times as well as having reached the semi-finals of the European Cup (now the UEFA Champions League) in 1992 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1973. Sparta have won a record 38 domestic league titles, the Czech Cup (and its predecessor Czechoslovak Cup) 16 times, also a record, and the Czech Supercup twice. Sparta was long the main source for the Czech Republic national football team, however lately this has ceased to be the case, as the best Czech players almost exclusively play in foreign leagues. Letná
Letná is a hill overlooking Prague historic centre and Vltava River just besides Prague Castle. It neighbours Stromovka, the largest park in Prague. The hill belongs to Holešovice and Bubeneč quarters of Prague 7. The main part of Letná is Letná Plain ''()'', a large empty plain and Letná Park ''(),'' which is popular for summer strolls and informal sports (inline skating and jogging being the most popular). Several rock concerts took place here, including Michael Jackson (1996), and the Rolling Stones (2003), both with an over 120,000-person audience. Due to its position, it used to be the venue for the largest Stalin statue in Europe. The statue was torn down in the 1960s, and the Prague Metronome now occupies the site. Josef Vlastimil Burian, better known as Vlasta Burian, (9 April 1891 – 31 January 1962) was a Czechs, Czech actor, singer, comedian, footballer and film director. He is among the most famous Czech actors and comedians of the first half of the 20th century. In the Czech Republic, he is nicknamed "King of Comedians". Early life Vlasta Burian was born on 9 April 1891 in Liberec to a tailor, patriot and volunteer Antonín Burian (*1863) and his five years older wife Maria Burianová, née Škaloudová (*1858), who had a daughter Žofia Picková (*1884) from a previous marriage. 1934 FIFA World Cup
The 1934 FIFA World Cup was the 2nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international Association football, football championship for List of men's national association football teams, senior men's national teams. Oldřich Nejedlý
Oldřich Nejedlý (26 December 1909 – 11 June 1990) was a Czechs, Czech Association football, footballer. He spent his entire professional career at AC Sparta Prague, Sparta Prague as an Forward (association football)#Inside forward, inside-forward. Nejedlý was the top goalscorer of the 1934 FIFA World Cup at international level. He died in 1990 at the age of 80 during the 1990 FIFA World Cup, FIFA World Cup of said year, a tournament which took place in Italy after the 1934 edition.
