2018 Wuhan Open
The 2018 Wuhan Open (also known as the 2018 Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open for sponsorship reasons) was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts between September 23–29, 2018. It was the 5th edition of the Wuhan Open, and part of the WTA Premier 5 tournaments of the 2018 WTA Tour. The tournament was held at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan, China. WTA Premier Tournaments
WTA Premier tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. In 2020, Premier events included: * Four "Premier Mandatory" events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing with prize money of $4.5 million. * Five "Premier 5" events in Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto/Montreal, and Wuhan with prize money of $2 million. * Twelve "Premier" events with prize money of $600,000 to $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are: * "Premier Mandatory" 1000 * "Premier 5" 900 and * "Premier" 470. Wang Qiang (; ; born 14 January 1992) is a Chinese tennis player. On 9 September 2019, Wang achieved her highest singles ranking of world No. 12, becoming the third-highest ranked Chinese tennis player in history after Li Na and Zheng Qinwen. She has won two singles titles on the WTA Tour, one WTA Challenger singles title, and 14 singles titles and one doubles title on the ITF Circuit. Her best performance at a major came at the 2019 US Open when she advanced to the quarterfinals.
