2011 BMW Open
The 2011 BMW Open, also known as The BMW Open by FWU Takaful 2011 for sponsorship reasons, was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 96th edition of the event. It was part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2011 ATP World Tour. It took place at the MTTC Iphitos complex in Munich, Germany, from 23 April through 1 May 2011. Mikhail Youzhny was the defending champion, while he was joined by last year's finalist Marin Čilić as well as semifinalists Marcos Baghdatis and Philipp Petzschner. Unranked former world number two countryman Tommy Haas made his 2011 debut and returned to playing in doubles via a wildcard into the main draw with partner Radek Štěpánek. ATP World Tour 250 Series
The ATP 250 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 250'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series'', and ''ATP World Series'') are the lowest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments on the main ATP Tour, after the four Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam/major tournaments, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, ATP 1000 tournaments, and ATP 500 tournaments, ATP 500 tournaments. As of 2024 ATP Tour, 2024, the series included 38 tournaments, with 250 ranking points awarded to each singles champion—which accounts for the name of the series. Draws consist of 28, 32, or 48 for singles and 16 for doubles. In 2025 ATP Tour, 2025, the series includes only 30 tournaments after the retirement of three tournaments (Atlanta, Córdoba and Lyon), the downgrade of two (Estoril and Newport) and the upgrade of three tournaments to the 500 level (Dallas, Doha and Munich). Radek Štěpánek
Radek Štěpánek (; born 27 November 1978) is a Czech former professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking was world No. 8 and best doubles ranking was world No. 4. Štěpánek's biggest achievements are reaching two Masters 1000 event finals and the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2006, as well as winning the deciding match for Czech Republic's Davis Cup winning team in 2012 and again in 2013. In doubles, he won his first Grand Slam title at the 2012 Australian Open, along with Indian partner Leander Paes, defeating the Bryan Brothers in the final. Paes and Štěpánek also won the men's doubles title at the 2013 US Open, defeating Bruno Soares and Alexander Peya in the final. Lucky Loser
A lucky loser is a sports competitor (player or team) who loses a match in a knockout tournament or loses in qualifying, but who then enters the main draw. This can occur when another competitor withdraws during the tournament because of illness, injury, or other reasons, in which case the lucky loser re-enters the competition in place of the withdrawn competitor, or due to the structure of the tournament. Julian Reister (; born 2 April 1986) is a German retired professional tennis player. His career-high singles ranking is world No. 83, achieved in November 2013. Reister reached the quarterfinals of Buenos Aires in 2013 as a qualifier. Andrey Kuznetsov (tennis)
Andrey Alexandrovich Kuznetsov (, born 22 February 1991) is a Russian coach and a former professional tennis player. On 25 April 2016, he achieved his singles career-high of world No. 39. Kuznetsov won the Boys' Singles title at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships. Career Early life Andrey Kuznestov started playing tennis at age six, coached by his father Alexander. Robert Farah Maksoud
Robert Charbel Farah Maksoud (; born 20 January 1987) is a Colombian former professional tennis player. A world No. 1 in doubles, he also reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 163 in June 2011. Farah is a two-time Grand Slam Champion, having won both the 2019 Wimbledon Championships (the first Hispanic duo to accomplish the feat) alongside compatriot Juan Sebastián Cabal and the 2019 US Open. Dustin Brown (born 8 December 1984) is a German-Jamaican former professional tennis player who rose to fame after beating Rafael Nadal at the Halle Open in 2014 and at Wimbledon in 2015. Andreas Beck (; born 5 February 1986) is a German former professional tennis player. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 33 in November 2009.
