Ellie Blanche Delvaux (; born 10 June 1999), better known as simply Blanche , is a Belgian singer and songwriter. She represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Ukraine with the song "City Lights", finishing in fourth place. Blanche previously competed on season five of ''The Voice Belgique'', where she was a member of Team Cats on Trees. Early life Ellie Delvaux was born in Belgium, on 10 June 1999. She is Jewish and speaks French, English and Hebrew. As a child she liked to sing to herself. She later attended some musical theatre classes and took part in school performances. When she turned 16, she auditioned for ''The Voice''. After Eurovision, she hoped to complete secondary school in Belgium. Her stage name, "Blanche", is her third name. Îles de Los are an island group lying off Conakry in Guinea, on the west coast of Africa. Their name is derived from the Portuguese: ''Ilhas dos Ídolos'', "Islands of the Idols". Maison Blanche (''White House'' in French) was a department store in New Orleans, Louisiana, and later also a chain of department stores. It was founded in 1897 by Isidore Newman, an immigrant from Germany. Maison Blanche is perhaps best remembered for introducing the locally popular Mr. Bingle Christmas mascot and for its landmark flagship store on Canal Street. Corporate history Maison Blanche was acquired in 1923 by City Stores Company, which merged Maison Blanche with Loveman's in 1950. City Stores Co. filed for bankruptcy in July 1979. Blanche (grape)
Mondeuse blanche is a variety of white grape almost exclusively found in and around the Savoy (Savoie) wine region in France. With just of plantations in 1999, it leads a dwindling existence and is used primarily in the VDQS wine Bugey and the AOC Vin de Savoie. Related grapes DNA typing has established that Mondeuse blanche is the mother of the Syrah grape, with Dureza being the father. Despite their similarity in names, Mondeuse blanche is not closely related to Mondeuse noire, or Mondeuse gris. Grapes just called Mondeuse are usually Mondeuse noire rather than Mondeuse blanche. Walerian Borowczyk (21 October 1923 – 3 February 2006) was an internationally known Polish film director described by film critics as a 'genius who also happened to be a pornographer'. Blanche is an American alternative country band from Detroit, Michigan. Their music is based in Americana, early country, and folk blues, with a touch of haunting Southern Gothic stylings and garage rock mentality. Blanche is known for wearing vintage fashion of the early to mid-20th century. The origins of Blanche can be traced back to the early '90s band Goober & the Peas. Led by Dan "Goober" Miller, the band was devoted to cowpunk, and dressed in honky-tonk attire. After the break-up of Goober & The Peas, three of the band's members—Dan Miller, Jack White, and Damian Lang—formed the garage rock band Two-Star Tabernacle with Miller's wife Tracee Mae Miller.
