Big Ten Conference
The Big Ten Conference (stylized B1G, formerly the Western Conference and the Big Nine Conference) is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. Founded as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives in 1896, it predates the founding of its regulating organization, the NCAA. It is based in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois. For many decades the conference consisted of 10 universities, and it has 14 members and 2 affiliate institutions. The conference competes in the NCAA Division I and its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, the highest level of NCAA competition in that sport. 1986 Michigan Wolverines Football Team
The 1986 Michigan Wolverines football team was an American football team that represented the University of Michigan as a member of the Big Ten Conference during the 1986 NCAA Division I-A football season. In its 18th season under head coach Bo Schembechler, the team compiled an 11–2 record (7–1 against conference opponents), tied for the Big Ten championship, outscored opponents by a total of 379 to 203, and was ranked No. 8 and No. 7, respectively, in the final AP and UPI polls. Late in the season, Schembechler passed Fielding H. Yost as the winningest coach in Michigan football history. Michigan was ranked No. 2 after winning its first nine games, including victories over Notre Dame and Florida State. The Wolverines were then upset by an unranked Minnesota team led by Rickey Foggie. The 1990 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1990 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head coach was Gary Moeller. Jon Vaughn
Jonathan Stewart Vaughn (born March 12, 1970) is an American former professional football player who was a running back and kick returner in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons from 1991 to 1994 for the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs. In his most productive season, he led the 1992 Patriots in rushing and led the NFL in kickoff returns with a 28.2 yards per return average on twenty returns. Vaughn was the tenth NFL player to accumulate four kickoff-return touchdowns and the second to accumulate kickoff return touchdowns for three teams. Matt Rodgers
Matt Rodgers (born January 8, 1969) is a former college football player for the University of Iowa from 1988-1991. He was the quarterback who started for the Hawkeyes in the 1991 Rose Bowl game and won the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year award in 1990. Early life and education Rodgers was a three-sport star at Walpole High School in Massachusetts. His father, Jimmy Rodgers, later became the head coach of the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves. Jimmy Rodgers was named the MVP of the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team in 1964 and 1965. The 1990 Iowa Hawkeyes football team represented the University of Iowa in the 1990 NCAA Division I-A football season. The Hawkeyes played their home games at Kinnick Stadium and were led by legendary coach Hayden Fry. After starting 7–1 and rising to #6 in the polls, Iowa finished the season with an 8–4 record (6–2 Big Ten), winning a four-way tie for the Big Ten Conference championship by defeating the three other teams atop the conference standings – Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois – in their respective head-to-head matchups. Edward Nathan George Jr. (born September 24, 1973) is an American football coach and former player who is the current head coach at Tennessee State. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, primarily for the Houston / Tennessee Oilers / Titans franchise. He played college football at Ohio State and won the Heisman Trophy in 1995. Otto Everett Graham Jr. (December 6, 1921 – December 17, 2003) was an American professional football player who was a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) and National Football League (NFL). Anthony Q. Thompson (born April 8, 1967) is a former professional American football running back and a current pastor at the Lighthouse Community Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Early life Thompson was a three-year starter (1983–1985) for Terre Haute North Vigo High School, where he was a ''Parade'' All-American under coach Wayne Staley. College career Thompson played college football with the Indiana University Hoosiers football program where he won the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in 1989. He also won the ''Chicago Tribune'' Silver Football twice, becoming only the third person to do so at the time (following Paul Giel and Archie Griffin).
