A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. KMET (defunct)
KMET was a Los Angeles FM radio station owned by Metromedia (hence the "MET" in its call sign) that broadcast at 94.7 MHz, beginning on May 2, 1966. It signed off on February 14, 1987. The station, nicknamed "The Mighty Met" (among other nicknames), was a pioneering station of the "underground" progressive rock format. KFI-FM was a short-lived FM broadcasting station, licensed to Los Angeles, California. It was the first station with a transmitter located on Mount Wilson. The station began test programs in 1946 and only lasted until 1951, when the owner, Earle C. Anthony, decided to shut down operations and return the license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This was due to the fact that relatively few persons had FM receivers, and owners saw a limited future for FM operations. Mount Wilson (California)
Mount Wilson is a peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, located within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County, California. With only minor topographical prominence the peak is not naturally noticeable from a distance, although it is easily identifiable due to the large number of antennas near its summit. It is a subsidiary peak of nearby San Gabriel Peak. It is the location of the Mount Wilson Observatory, which is an important astronomical facility in Southern California with historic and telescopes, and and solar towers.
