Bath Festival Of Blues And Progressive Music
The Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music was a counterculture era music festival held at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England on 27–29 June 1970. Bands such as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin performed, and the festival was widely bootlegged. An 'alternative festival' was staged in an adjoining field where the Pink Fairies and Hawkwind played on the back of a flatbed lorry. Michael Eavis was attendant at the festival and was inspired to hold later that year the first event of what would become the Glastonbury festival of contemporary performing arts. History The festival started at midday on the 27th (a Saturday) and finished on the following Monday at about 6:30 am. Shepton Mallet
Shepton Mallet is a market town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in Somerset, England, some southwest of Bath, Somerset, Bath, south of Bristol and east of Wells, Somerset, Wells. It had an estimated population of 10,810 in 2019. Mendip Non-metropolitan district, District Council was based there. The Mendip Hills lie to the north and the River Sheppey runs through the town, as does the route of the Fosse Way, the main Roman road between north-east and south-west England. Steppenwolf was a Canadian-American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1967. It's A Beautiful Day
It's a Beautiful Day is an American band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1967, featuring vocalist Pattie Santos along with violinist David LaFlamme and his wife, Linda LaFlamme, on keyboards. David LaFlamme, who as a youth had once performed as a soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, had previously been in the group Orkustra playing five-string violin. The other members of It's a Beautiful Day in its early years were Val Fuentes (drums), Mitchell Holman (bass) and Hal Wagenet (guitar). Although they were one of the notable San Francisco bands to emerge from 1967's Summer of Love, the group never achieved the level of success that contemporaries such as the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana did, with whom they had connections. Canned Heat is an American blues rock band that was formed in Los Angeles in 1965. The group has been noted for its efforts to promote interest in blues music and its original artists. The Moody Blues were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in May 1964. The Flock (band)
The Flock was an American, Chicago-based jazz rock band, that released two albums on Columbia Records in 1969 (''The Flock (album), The Flock'') and 1970 (''Dinosaur Swamps''). The Flock did not achieve the commercial success of other Columbia jazz-rock groups of the era such as Chicago (band), Chicago and Blood Sweat & Tears, but were recognized for featuring a violin prominently in their music.
