Barriers (TV Series)
''Barriers'' is a British children's television series, created and written by William Corlett, and made by Tyne Tees Television for ITV between 1981 and 1982. The series starred Benedict Taylor as Billy Stanyon, a teenager facing up to the loss of his parents in a sailing accident only to discover that he was adopted. Billy then sets off on a journey to find his real parents that takes him across Europe. The series was filmed on location in Scotland, Germany and Austria. An initial series of thirteen episodes in 1981 was followed by a further seven episodes in 1982. William Corlett
William Corlett (8 October 1938 – 16 August 2005), was an English author, best known for his quartet of children's novels, ''The Magician's House'', published between 1990 and 1992. Biography Corlett was born in Darlington, County Durham. He was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh, then trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Later in life he Coming out, came out as gay, and it was from his partner, Bryn Ellis, that he gained some of his inspiration for ''The Magician's House''. Corlett died at Sarlat in France. Robert Addie
Robert Alastair Addie (10 February 1960 – 20 November 2003) was an English film and theatre actor, who came to prominence playing the role of Sir Guy of Gisbourne in the 1980s British television drama series ''Robin of Sherwood''. Early life Addie was born in south London on 10 February 1960. During his early childhood he was adopted by Marjorie and Jack Williams and raised in Sapperton, in the county of Gloucestershire. He received his formal education at Marlborough College and Magdalen College School, Brackley. After initially being employed as a trainee estate agent on a ranch in Argentina, he returned to England and joined the National Youth Theatre in London in 1976 at the age of 16. Subsequently he trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, which he left early after successfully auditioning for the role of Mordred in the film ''Excalibur'' (1981). Nicholas Courtney
William Nicholas Stone Courtney (16 December 1929 – 22 February 2011) was an Egyptian-born British actor. He was known for his long-running role as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Early life Courtney was born in Cairo, Egypt, the son of a British diplomat father and half-American mother. His paternal grandfather was the journalist William Leonard Courtney. He was educated in France, Kenya and Egypt. On his maternal side, Courtney was descended from New Zealand politician John Cuff. He did his national service in the British Army, leaving after 18 months as a private, not wanting to pursue a military career. He moved to England to join London's Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. After two years doing repertory theatre in Northampton, he became resident in London in 1961. Siegfried Rauch (2 April 1932 – 11 March 2018) was a German film and television actor. In a career spanning over 60 years, he appeared in several international film productions and had leading roles in numerous German television productions. Career Siegfried Rauch was born in Landsberg am Lech, Upper Bavaria. He studied drama at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and also attended private drama lessons. He began performing in theatres in 1958, beginning with Bremen (until 1962), and followed by Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. Benedict Sean Taylor (born 18 April 1960) is a British actor. Taylor was born in Hampstead, London, the eldest of six children of father, Richard, a documentary film maker, and Allegra, a writer. Taylor lived in Nigeria until 1965 and then was brought up in London. Now based near Hampton Court in West London, Taylor is married to Kate, an editor. They have three children: Jay, Freya, and Kalila. Taylor started working as a child actor in 1969 with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He concentrated solely on acting and voice-overs until 1985.
