Bakka is a tiny village in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the western shore of the Nærøyfjord, about north of the village of Gudvangen and access to the European route E16 highway. The village is home to the Bakka Church. In 2000, the Bakka Tunnel was constructed on the road from Gudvangen to Bakka to make the journey quicker and safer. Bakka Church
Bakka Church ( no, Bakka kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Bakka, on the shores of the sparsely populated Nærøyfjorden. It is the church for the Nærøy parish which is part of the Sogn prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1859 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Henrik Grosch. The church seats about 200 people. The church is a small, simple building with a nave and a choir. A chancel contains the altarpiece. Due to its rural, isolated location, the Nærøy parish is one of the smallest parishes in the Diocese of Bjørgvin with only 104 members in 1999. Gudvangen
Gudvangen is a village in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is a popular tourist destination and is located at the end of the Nærøyfjord where the Nærøydalselvi river empties into the fjord. The European route E16 highway passes by the village. Heading southwest on the highway leads to Voss municipality while heading northeast the E16 enters the Gudvanga Tunnel on its way to the villages of Flåm, Undredal, and Aurlandsvangen. Nærøyfjord
The Nærøyfjord (or ''Nærøyfjorden'', ) is a fjord in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The narrow fjord is a branch of the large Sognefjord, and it is featured on the "Norway in a Nutshell" daytrips for tourists. The long fjord is only wide in some parts. The river Nærøydalselvi flows down the valley Nærøydalen into the fjord at the village of Gudvangen, near the European route E16 highway. Aurland () is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located on the south side of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn. The administrative center is the village of Aurlandsvangen. Other villages include Bakka, Flåm, Undredal, and Gudvangen. The municipality is the 60th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Aurland is the 293rd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 1,766.
