Badminton was contested at the 2002 Asian Games at the Gangseo Gymnasium in Busan, South Korea from 6 October to 14 October 2002 . Singles, doubles, and team events were contested for both men and women. Mixed Doubles were also contested. Shon Seung-mo
Shon Seung-mo (Hangul: 손승모; born 1 July 1980 in Milyang, Gyeongsangnam-do) is a badminton player from South Korea. In 2004, he won the silver medal at the Athens Summer Olympics. Career Olympic Games He competed at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2004, he defeating Antti Viitikko of Finland and Richard Vaughan of Great Britain in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Shon defeated Chen Hong of People's Republic of China 10-15, 15-4, 15-10. Shon advanced to the semifinals, in which he beat Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia 15-6, 9-15, 15-9. Playing in the gold medal match, he lost to Indonesian Taufik Hidayat by a score of 15-8, 15-7 to finish with the silver medal. Shon's right eye is almost blind, after being hit in the eye by a shuttlecock when he was 15 years of age. Park Tae-sang
Park Tae-sang (Hangul: 박태상; born June 20, 1979) is a retired South Korean professional badminton player. After retiring as a badminton player, he decided to become a coach, starting his career with South Korean national team. Career 2004 Park played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Abhinn Shyam Gupta of India and Bao Chunlai of China in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Park was defeated by Soni Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia 15-13, 15-4. Coaching career Park started his career as a badminton coach at the South Korean national team, and served his country for five years, from 2013 to 2018. Park joined the Indian national team in 2019 and began coaching the men's singles players. He is currently the coach of Indian player P. V. Lee Jae-jin (badminton)
Lee Jae-jin (Hangul: 이재진; ; born 26 January 1983) is a badminton player from South Korea. Career In 2003, he won the Hungarian International tournament in the mixed doubles event, and at the Norwegian International he won doubles title in the men's and mixed doubles event. In 2005, he won the mixed doubles title at the South Korea, German, Thailand, and Malaysia Open with Lee Hyo-jung. In Thailand, he also won the men's doubles title with Jung Jae-sung. Lee played at the 2007 BWF World Championships in men's doubles with Hwang Ji-man. They were seeded tenth and were defeated in the third round by Candra Wijaya and Tony Gunawan, 21-17, 21-16. Kim Dong-moon
Kim Dong-moon (Hangul: 김동문, Hanja: 金東文; born 22 September 1975) is a retired South Korean badminton player who won major titles between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s (decade), and widely regarded as one of finest men's doubles and mixed doubles players in badminton history. Kim captured the world attention when he unexpectedly winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event with Gil Young-ah at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. On his path to greatness, he won gold medals both in men's and mixed doubles at the 1999 World Championships. Kim and Ra Kyung-min, partnered up to become one of the strongest mixed doubles pairings of that time. They did not drop a single match from April to November in 2003. Ha Tae-kwon
Ha Tae-kwon (; born 30 April 1975) is a badminton player from South Korea. Born in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Ha started his career in badminton with the recommendation of Kim Dong-moon in elementary school. He made his international debut in 1992, and won his first Grand Prix title at the 1995 Canada Open. Ha three times competed in Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004, won a bronze medal in 2000 and a gold medal in 2004. Halim Haryanto Ho (born 23 September 1976) is an Indonesian former badminton player. He is a former world champion along with his doubles partner Tony Gunawan. Haryanto immigrated to the United States in 2004 to pursue a coaching career. Chan Chong Ming
Chan Chong Ming (born 16 February 1980) is a former Malaysian badminton player and a current head coach of Malaysian national women's doubles squad. Career Chan competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics with his then partner, Chew Choon Eng. In the first round, they defeated Theodoros Velkos and George Patis of Greece, but were then defeated in the round of 16 by Zheng Bo and Sang Yang of the China. Tesana Panvisvas (เทศนา พันธ์วิศวาส; born 14 March 1978) is a male badminton player from Thailand. He competed at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. In 2002 Asian Games, and won the men's doubles silver with Pramote Teerawiwatana. He and Teerawiwatana also won the men's doubles gold at the 1999 Southeast Asian Games.
