Bob Sharp (speedway Rider)
Robert Henry Sharp (17 February 1934 – 12 September 2012) was an Australian motorcycle speedway rider. He was twice champion of Australia in 1962 and 1965 and earned 13 international caps for the Australia national speedway team. Glasgow Tigers are a motorcycle speedway team from Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in 1928, the club adopted the Tigers nickname in 1946 and compete in the British SGB Championship. The team race at Ashfield Stadium and celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2021. History Origins and 1920s Speedway in Glasgow began during 1928, starting with the Nelson Recreation Ground on 9 April, followed by Celtic Park on 28 April and Carntyne Stadium on 25 May. The British Newspaper Archive website provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library's Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. This is partly because of the legal deposit legislation of 1869, which required newspapers to supply a copy of each edition of a newspaper to the library. London editions of national daily and Sunday newspapers are complete back to 1801. In total, the collection consists of 660,000 bound volumes and 370,000 reels of microfilm containing tens of millions of newspapers with 52,000 titles on 45 km of shelves. 1952 Speedway National League Division Two
The 1952 National League Division Two was the seventh post-war season of the second tier of motorcycle speedway in Great Britain. Summary The post-war boom was now fading and the League was shortened to 12 teams with Speedway National League Division Three, Division Three now defunct and continued only on a regional basis. Previous champions Norwich Stars had been promoted to National League (1932–1964), Division One. Newcastle Diamonds, Newcastle, Walthamstow Wolves, Walthamstow and Halifax Dukes, Halifax had closed whilst Fleetwood Flyers changed to Fleetwood Knights and ran only open meetings.
