Bob Leith
Robert G. Leith (born 17 April 1964) is an English musician, the drummer for the Rock music, rock band Cardiacs from 1993 and Blurt from 2005 to 2008. Leith played in secondary school bands in Milton Keynes inspired by the punk ethos and co-formed the anarcho-punk band Part 1 (band), Part 1, which he played with from 1980 to 1983 in the early death rock scene. Before joining Cardiacs, Leith was the singer and drummer in the progressive pop band Ad Nauseam with guitarist Jon Poole. Both Cardiacs fans, they became friends with the band after following them on tour and Poole took Bic Hayes' place on guitar in 1991, recruiting Leith to replace Cardiacs' long-time drummer Dominic Luckman when Luckman left in July 1993. The Garage (London)
The Garage is a live music and club venue in Highbury, North London. It opened in 1993 and has a capacity of 600. The upstairs room, also known as the Grace, has a capacity of 150. The venue has hosted a number of underplays, with the Killers, Jack White, Mumford & Sons, Suede, Wolf Alice, Sugababes and The 1975 being among some of the most recent acts to play the venue. Other acts who have passed through the doors include Green Day, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paramore, Oasis, My Chemical Romance and the Creatures (Siouxsie Sioux's second band). The Garage was originally a Temperance Billiard Hall which quickly gained a reputation for serving great pies, as well as being a haunt for local villains in the sixties. Tim Smith (Cardiacs)
Timothy Charles Smith (3 July 196121 July 2020) was an English musician, record producer and music video director. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Smith rose to prominence as the frontman of the rock band Cardiacs, which he co-founded with his brother Jim. In addition to Cardiacs, Smith led, co-led or contributed to the Sea Nymphs, Panixphere, Tim Smith's Extra Special OceanLandWorld and Spratleys Japs. Recognised for the particular complexity, skill and idiosyncrasies of his songs and music, Smith was honoured with the Doctor of Music degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2018, two years before his death in 2020. Stephen Evens
Stephen Paul Gilchrist (born January 1975) is an English musician from London who also teaches drums and guitar across London. Gilchrist releases music under the name Stephen Evens (stylised Stephen EvEns) and wrote and recorded under the name Stuffy with his band Stuffy/The Fuses (whose second album, ''Angels Are Ace'', was recorded by Steve Albini) from 2003 to 2009, reforming in 2023. He is best known as the drummer in Blur guitarist Graham Coxon's live band, and also appears on Coxon's live albums, '' Burnt to Bitz: At the Astoria'' and '' Live at the Zodiac'', and on the single " Bloody Annoying / What Ya Gonna Do Now?". Mark Cawthra
Mark Andrew Cawthra (born 28 April 1961) is a British musician of the project Redbus Noface and formerly of Cardiacs. Biography Mark Andrew Cawthra was born on 28 April 1961 in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England. Cawthra's first serious musical activity was in an early (unnamed) music project with schoolfriend Tim Smith (bass guitar) and David Philpot (keyboards), a band in which he was the drummer. The music, a mix of jazz and rock, drew inspiration from the "Canterbury" bands, particularly Egg. After a period of playing drums with other musicians around Kingston upon Thames, he moved to North Yorkshire and lived there for the whole of 1978. He returned to London in 1979, following an invitation to join Tim and Jim Smith in Cardiac Arrest, replacing Peter Tagg on drums.
