Birmingham Organising Committee For The 2022 Commonwealth Games
The Birmingham Organising Committee for the 2022 Commonwealth Games (BOCCG) is the organisation responsible for overseeing the planning and development of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. It was jointly established by the UK Government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Birmingham City Council and the Commonwealth Games England and was structured as a private company limited by guarantee. The headquarters of the organising committee are located in One Brindleyplace and has taken up the 73,000 sq ft, five-floor office until December 2022. Formation In 2017, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chose Birmingham as the host city for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. After the success of the Birmingham bid, BOCCG was formed to continue the work started by the bidding team. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, were an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. They were the 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games. It was the third and seventh time England and the United Kingdom hosted the Commonwealth Games, respectively. 4,822 athletes, including 311 para athletes from 72 Commonwealth Games Associations took part in the event. Paralympic Games
The Paralympic Games or Paralympics is a periodic series of international multisport events involving athletes with a range of disability, disabilities. There are Winter Paralympic Games, Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, have been held shortly after the corresponding Olympic Games. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is a ministerial department of the Government of the United Kingdom. It holds the responsibility for culture and sport, and some aspects of the media throughout the UK, such as broadcasting. Ama Agbeze
Ama Agbeze (born 12 November 1982) is an England netball international. She was captain when England won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In 2019 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. As of 2020, Agbeze has played for at least sixteen different club teams in England, Australia and New Zealand. Early life, family and education Agbeze was born to Nigerian parents in Birmingham. Barbados Olympic Association, founded in 1962, is the National Olympic Committee for Barbados. The body is also responsible for Barbados' representation at the Commonwealth Games. Geoff Thompson is a British karate fighter. He is the winner of multiple European Karate Championships and World Karate Championships medals. Julie Moore has been Chair of Health Data Research UK (HDRUK) since September 2023. She was the Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust from 2006 to 2018.
